I have now concluded that I spent WAY too much time in my home office during August, cranking out 30K+ words of CCH 2.5, plus code, plus some promotional material, etc. I burned myself out big time. I needed time to rest my brain, but I didn't want to rush or short-change the game (which is now over 60k words).

So, I got an extension to turn in my CCH 2.5 game files around Thanksgiving, which means the game won't be out until winter.

I'm sorry if this is disappointing to anyone, but honestly it was mostly logistics. To code my games, I have to use my PC, which is in the home office (I also have dual monitors, which I consider pretty much a requirement too). I spent too much time locked up in the office trying to keep the puppy out (he likes to go to the office window and bark at people, dogs, squirrels, the wind, etc.) which really secluded me from my family.

So in Sept I'm whipping out the Chromebook and just tapping out world-building and plot ideas whenever and wherever I want (dining room, living room, back deck) and it's amazing how this is allowing me to be much more "part of the family" and right in the mix of things.

Since I won't be able to deliver on a game this fall, I want to at least deliver (or re-deliver) on some digital goodies to my patrons.

So for Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec, each month I will continue to give you updates, and I will also PM links to:

1) a previous CCH short story that I have written, and

2) a CCH RPG character sheet (they are awesome, with art from the fabulous Adrienne Valdes)

To folks who have been around with me for a long time, I'm sorry that you probably have these already, and I really appreciate you still being here!

Here is to taking much needed breathers and focusing on your loved ones! (and your puppies!)

No problem, take your time with everything. We all understand how busy life can get. I understand how crazy it can get trying to writing, code and do family things and still try to get things done in a tight time frame. It doesn't always work out, but we appreciate everything you do and all the effort you put into making these amazing stories. Good luck with everything and thank you again for all the goodies and stories.

Happy, rested authors = better writing. This is a win-win. Don't feel bad at all. You don't owe readers anything but you do owe it to you and your family to take care of yourself. :)
