Yo.

This.

IS.

MUSIC!!! FUCK ME.

It feels sooo good seeing charisma and star quality do its job instead of perfect visual robots with soulless generic voices and overly complex choreo for the sake of it.

The delivery of the lyrics and overall tone and vocal layering HITS. I can't believe how much fun I had, these are how SONGS should sounds. You don't need to be the biggest belter but you need to have conviction and delivery and feel like you're enjoying singing the song and actually know what the lyrics are about.

Once again their more raw vocals sound great and specific to each member. Can't believe they did an album this good after Dark & Wild!

What are your favourites?

Enjoy!

stop the way i FLEW to this notif😭😭 tmbmil 1&2 are my fav albums from bts, they’re AMAZING

Taraaaaaaa

Oh man!!! This takes me back!! Such a masterpiece of an album! The intro, Autumn Leaves, Butterfly, and Hold Me Tight had me in the longest chokehold. I really loved that BTS was doing their *own* thing. Focused on their own vibe and while being influenced by other groups like Big Bang, they weren’t trying to copy anybody. At the risk of sounding “old” I miss THIS k-pop. Bring it back 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Kai Leon

I came so fast to watch this 😭 I can't wait for you to hear part 2 bc I think it's even better than this one

Kai Leon

Also my fav from this one is I Need U. Might seem like a generic choice but everything about the song is perfect like lyrics, production, EVERYTHING

Jordan Palmer

god BTS makes the best fucking music

I was immediately seated when I got this notification. The Converse High appreciation yes! Such a good song and it definitely makes me want to groove too. My favorite song on the album is definitely Love is Not Over. The version you listened to is actually an extended version from the compilation album Young Forever that was released after HYYH Pts 1 and Pts 2. The version included on this album excludes rapline and only features vocal line. If I remember correctly, Love is Not Over was never supposed to have a rap line feature because they didn't believe it fit the song well, but imo I think it elevated an already pretty good track. I Need U and Dope are definitely overplayed for me now, but their contributions to BTS' popularity during the initial release of this album can't be downplayed at all. Moving On and Hold Me Tight are great b-sides as well and Moving On especially is a bit of a tear jerker. I really like Boyz with Fun, but I can understand why it wouldn't be for everyone. I always saw it musically as like the spiritual successor to Attack on Bangtan from their O!RUL82? album. You can really feel BTS' passion for music and what they're doing in their older albums. I don't want to downplay their efforts post Wings/LY trilogy, but it just wasn't hitting the same for me once their popularity exploded, even if I still enjoyed everything, it felt like something was still missing. I think the rawness of being nugu and the fear of not succeeding after everything they went through and sacrificed pushed them even harder to release music from the soul if that makes sense. Like no one wants to beat a dead horse, but things have definitely changed in K-Pop nowadays that when you listen to albums like this, it makes you nostalgic and wish for the days we got releases like this. Feels like a lot groups and idols are just going through the motions now. Really looking forward to whenever you get around to HYYH pt. 2!

emma

such an incredible album!!! there’s really just something about bts’ music in general but especially in their older music that set them apart from other kpop groups that ive heard, idk if its the production or the melodies or what but they’ll always just amaze me. converse high is probably my favorite in this album but hold me tight gives me sm nostalgia every time

emma

cant wait for your reaction to pt 2 bc imo its even better

Hana Eccleston

i was listening to new music before this video and this album was such a palette cleanser like i feel a lot better after not just re-listening to these songs but seeing another person discover old gems :)

Ariah Mclean

this album is actually the album that introduced me to kpop and has made me stay for the past what 8 years, hyyh is a masterpiece.

old face magenta 1994

Love is not over is one of my favourite songs of BTS EVER. It's too good!!!! btw I don't know if you saw it but enhypen covered I need U for a Spotify thing. It's really good.

fi

loveee thisss! u should definitely do one of their concerts, they r so top tier !!

Joe B

This album is where they really found their feet and got their first win. Also the last album released before I got into them. Part 2 being my first comeback from them…I feel so grateful 😌😂

Haven

one of my favourite bts albums. I love the mixing of this album and all of their projects around this time. The last couple of albums by bts have never really hit the same with me because of the development of their sound catering to the western market. Not only that, but a lot of hybe groups have overcompressed autotuned vocals riddled throughout their music now and I just can’t stand it. It’s the same reason I don’t like charlie puth’s music 😅

Koko3op

Yess agreed, also the way idols struggled in the past is not the same as now. The drive and hunger is different than how it used to be. They still have it not but it doesn't feel as desperate.

Koko3op

Agreed lool. Their songs lack depth these days which is a shame except for TXT for the most part.

LisMM

Absolutely loving this series. I have a whole “rediscovering BTS” playlist now. 😁

feen

Love love loveee this album! you should watch PTD LA the concert!! or any one of the Love Yourself concerts highkey recommend!!

ashleelei

2015 kpop is my roman empire, this album remains as one my favorites!

Ariana Thompson

Some Army will tear you down for saying I miss the old BTS but for me personally their music started being for hit or miss after love yourself: Her. But moments of life era, wings, and dark and wild are some of my favorite bodies of works in kpop ever. In general I whole heartedly believe 2015 was the best year for kpop musically while 2014-2016 was my golden age of kpop

this was the bts i fell in love with 😭 it’s a shame what happened to them after ‘hybe’ was officially established

Irene

omg, everyone in the comment section is being so cynical!! I actually disagree that after the HYYH era they fell off, nor that 2015-2016 was their best, but I think Map of Soul was an album of singles aimed for billboard and that's *one* of the reasons why it's their worst. One of the things I like about this album is that it's very representative of them and that time. I also love that you can hear connections through all of the songs in the album thematically and musically. In some ways, I kinda consider this album to be yoongi's first music baby. According to Jhope on Suchwita this album and era, yoongi worked a lot on and you can definitely hear it. (The piano and rap w/ socio-political commentary is something he goes back to again and again.)

Irene

My main gripe with this album is that all the chorus's hit you over the head way too hard for my taste, especially in I Need U. All of the melodies and harmonies are really satisfying though, as are the raps.

Koko3op

I think people are justified in their cynicism lool because of the change in production quality especially on the over produced vocals. But I do think they have some amazing songs pre-2021. Everything post that though is …

eoniimo

Love BTS since 2015 and I love their old music sm, people will come for me when saying that but I just honestly cannot enjoy their newer songs iyk what I mean. I’m glad that you enjoyed the songs on this album, my favorite is love is not over, I be singing my heart out to It.

Irene

lol, they've also released like 3 songs post 2021 tho. Do you include their solo work? (if were talking about overproduced vocals I would as well btw)

Mint

Very late to this, I'm only early for the girl group reactions, haha. These BTS albums are really something, aren't they. I'm not an Army so I may not understand the nuances too well, but Hybe really needs to recapture some of this magic somewhere in that mega corporate structure of theirs. There's just so much pressure to succeed immediately nowadays that there is no time to lay a foundation. I've been listening to some Lesserafim lately and I can't help but be reminded of how they also do those spoken word intros to their albums and then you hear Suga's one here. Its like Hybe is just copying the form without the spirit

Ra Ku

Thank you for this! Maybe gor the 2 part you can also watch some performances of the songs. It is just another experience 💜 thank uu and loveee your honesty
