HEADPHONE REACTIONS Have arrived - YAY!! Unfortunately I forgot to mute my laptop mic so there is some doubling when I speak but I tried not to make it super annoying and matched it but my next reactions are gonna be LUCIOUS!! It definitely enhanced the experience and helped me stay focused better but I'd argue I still heard the songs mostly how I would without headphones.

ANYWAY! The album is FANTASTIC, it was a great recommendation! It's a SOLID B, the production even when safe takes risks here and there to keep you intrigued (something I ALWAYS ask for with other pop groups) and I think mostly what's missing with TWICE, which I do discuss, is a strong vocalist with a warm tone.

Unfortunately Nayeon, Jihyo and at time Jeongyeon have tight restricted placements when belting and also a sharper/colder sound overall which can be piercing at times. My favourite voice is EASILY Mina's, it's warmer, relaxed with a nice texture.

I'm looking forward to my next TWICE album, especially one with more layered vocals which TWICE do very well with but pulled back here for some reason, I definitely found some new faves though!

Enjoy!

omg thank you so much for reacting to more twice, I always look forward to your videos. I love this album but I personally think their most recent Japanese album, "celebrate," is a much stronger album both vocally and production-wise. If you have time, you should definitely check it out. thanks again for the reaction!

Omg no way!! Also I’m happy to finally see a comment here. I really enjoy this! I think I wanna do all their Korean albums first actually! Kinda feels right after doing their SM counter part.

Its been awhile since i've heard this album. Good at love is still that song for me, so good. I agree with your opinion on their vocals, sometimes jihyo sounds grating with how she pushes those notes through her nose. Twice has some solid bsides but i always feel like they could take it to a 10/10 if they had strong vocalists. Have you heard their cant stop me album? There's a few good bsides on there if you havent.

Honestly it's such a shame!! Yeah that's the album I mentioned being familiar with cos I love handle it from that album but I could revisit it for sure. I'm gonna do their albums chronoligically.

oh god lol its been so long since ive heard fanfare the chorus is so much more mashed and noisy than i remember 😭 i used to love that song so much but its so crashing and loud now, wonder what happened.. i agree so hard on your note about twice's vocal colors, especially with good at love. it really needed that strong, deep and bold finish on the final chorus. i really do love twices music dont get me wrong but sometimes i just have this gripe that id like their songs a lot more if they were sung by different people? 😭 the production is there, the ideas are there, but sometimes... i just wish it was sung by someone else less squeaky or high pitched/nasally (edit sorry) i guess thats just what comes with japanese song production in general, they love those squeaky or tinny tones you described which is a shame for me because four leaf clover would be a much easier listen without that compression tldr; my input ended up being far more negative than i intended lol oops but i nonetheless agree that this is a pretty great album from twice. perfect world is still my favorite japanese release from a kpop group, ever

I'd think you'd be hard pressed to find an album you'd like in its entirety from their earlier discography since the production for a majority of their earlier discography is made up of a lot of aged retro sounding synths and band/pop rock music influence that groups like Gfriend did as well. It's not until 2019 where you start hearing significant production changes and it stops sounding "dated". Imo their earlier discography hasn't held up well compared to something like Red Velvet's in the 2015-2018 time frame. That's not saying you won't potentially find songs you like from their earlier discography though.
