As an overall project this doesn't feel as cohesive or strong in terms of A&R as the previous album.

Cover Me was a great experience to listen to though but overall this definitely isn't my tastes and didn't really grab me.

Enjoy!

fun fact: seungmins highnote at the end of cover me was done in one take!!! 11:12 i think that is definitely what they're going for this era! in 5 star i think they still felt they had something to prove, and not that they don't love the songs they put out (cause obvs they wouldn't be released if they didn't) but they care even less about what people have to say about the music they release even more now than ever which is definitely portrayed through comflex. with 5 star they showed their true power and who they are/that they aren't going to stop the way they are because they will succeed either way. in the album intro they say they feel lalalala is more them than ever and that all they wanna do is make music they think is fun/they love :) great reaction and i also love cover me but my personal fave on the album is comflex. i really hope we get a recording behind for this album as well!

Cover Me is a song by Hyunjin & Chan! If you want to learn more about the process and also see some recording behind clips, I recommend checking out their Intro for this album. It shows Seungmin recording the high note in Cover Me as well! Definitely my fave song from the album. https://youtu.be/8KadR_q5rSg?si=2Viy1A71aK1ujpi2

I have to agree with the album not feeling too cohesive. Other than lalalala, cover me, and sometimes comflex, the other songs i would probably skip. Compared to the 5-Star album, and even Noeasy (which is probably my top skz album), it doesnt feel as impactful or as memorable. However, i do think lalalala is one of their best tt (imo) as it fits them like a glove and the choreo is definitely among the top, if not the best so far! everyone did really well but leeknow's and han's energy was just insane, especially in the dp and stages. enjoyed this reaction 🖤

I say this as the biggest Stray Kids fan in here : this album does feel a bit off. And it saddens me to see jype always making them push these *in between/filler albums* that don't feel fully realized or where some changes could have been made to improve the tracks (arrangement, mixing, etc). This time could be used for them resting or working on a bigger and fully fleshed project like 5-STAR but alas... This to me feels a bit like Maxident aka a bit thrown together and not as memorable even though there are great production and vocal moments from them. My favorite tracks are Cover Me, Blind Spot and LALALALA. And I will say that the performances of LALALALA are great ! I hope you'll check out the stage, the studio choom and the dance practice which are all out already.

I am with you on Comflex…I wanted something different from the chorus. Loved the song otherwise!

Before I say anything, I am not trying to come off as rude or disrespectful so please dont read this in that tone. Ok so I dont know if you already know this or not but jyp does not in anyway push them to make these albums. Chan has said it himself that they want to continue making music for their fans and thats why they release so much. Secondly Maxident was not a "filler" album. It came out 6 months after Oddinary so it was their next comeback (in normal timing). They also said they dont like resting, that they chose this path so they could work hard for their fans without taking breaks. Even though Stays have asked them to rest and such (which they dont like being said). 5-star was a full album but it came out right after their japanese album, which was only three months before. I understand fans aren't gonna like every single project they put out and thats totally normal and ok but with that being said please dont call their hard work "fillers". They work harder than any other kpop group ive seen and they just want their fans to be happy and love them for who they are. Anyways thats all im going to say, but again please dont take this as mean or harsh, thats not my intention.

I think you misunderstand me. I'm well aware of how much work they put in and that's they're self-produced. My criticisms don't imply the opposite. They produce everything but this doesn't change the fact that they are artists under a company at the end of the day. Most of the criticism I have revolves around the company and the belief that they should not overwork them as much, and that opinion won't change for me personally. Them being prolific artistically doesn't have to equate to them releasing a project three times a year. Many people enjoy Maxident and Rockstar because tastes differ. But as someone who listens to and analyzes a lot of music I have my gripes with these projects and they fill rushed and somewhat incomplete in my eyes, hence me using that term. Others may disagree but that is what it feels like to me. Especially when you compare them to an album like 5-STAR. I think K-pop has conditioned us to feel like 6 months between projects is long but it isn't really, especially if you count the comeback period and the fact that they often have a Japanese album to prepare and/or promote in between two korean releases. 3 months is even shorter. I love and respect the kids always, I just worry about them sometimes because I don't think this rhythm is sustainable and I wish they could slow down but regardless I love to see them always being creative and curating a sound that's overall pretty unique to them.

I actually like this album much better than 5-STAR. There's not a single song on 5-STAR that I enjoyed listening to past two weeks. I think I'll be listening to Cover Me, Leave and LALALALA (Rock Ver.) well past that. The form of 5-STAR was really disappointing. The teasers and mashup were so good. I was excited by them, but was highly disappointed when I heard the full songs because the structure was completely different from in the teasers. For example, in the DLC teaser, it showed I.N singing a line in acapella in the intro of the song and that was beautiful. But in the full song, he sang it in the outro, and it was not acapella. I would've missed the the line completely if not for the lyrics. The only albums that have longevity for me is NOEASY, Oddinary, SKZ-Replay, and THE SOUND. I really hope they do another project like SKZ-Replay, I miss the unit and solo songs.

I remember seeing a comment that JYP had more budget for their music video as they don’t have pay any outside producers 😂😂😂
