WELL!!

AT LEAST you lot can't say I'm not objective LOOOL! I consume the music for what it is and overall this SONICALLY was a disappointment and didn't feel as fresh and current as I would have liked after a 2+ year hiatus. I'm not a big fan of the string/minor chord dominant sound in the whole album. Would've like some choruses that felt different to the verses but this wasn't the case. The whole thing was giving 50 shades soundtrack which is probably why it feels dated to me. It's not a bad sound particularly BUT it does feel anti-climactic.

The saving grace however are his VOCALS. JESUS, This is Taemin's best singing NO DOUBT.

I'm TRYING to find the words to express WHAT I'm hearing but he has learnt dynamics and nuance that shows he is NOW a matured, seasonal and EXCEPTIONAL vocalist. I'll try and go into more detail with the Mujin service and Killing voice!

Enjoy!

Guilty was a contender against Advice but for this album he changed a lot to meet his specifications and current SM trends. He actually asked if Shinee wanted to do it but the members said it's totally Taemin. He's also said the title continues his career trajectory and the b sides are the songs he fought for so he could experiment. Blue he really had to fight for... I agree it's not his best but we wouldn't have Want if he didn't experiment on Move. I have faith. Lol

i agree that this wasn’t as bold as i would’ve loved! i do think we were a little spoilt by how incredible advice was—but he’s stated in multiple interviews that with this comeback he thought of what people expected / thought of taemin and wanted to deliver that because people had been waiting. plus, he only had time for a mini! even if it’s not my favourite, the cohesiveness, craft, and the beauty of his vocals is really assuring. and imo the music video, its concept, narrative, and inspirations make it SO so much better. understandably this channel is music first and so that matters less! but god the way he’s subtly talking about trauma, suffering, abuse from the industry, from military enlistment, and the idea of self-transformation and the unification of the binaries of his persona / figure, all with this beautiful gender neutral styling…enough to convince me that taemin is back.

honestly this album didn't underwhelm me at all. I was pretty happy with each track and especially the title. For me, Guilty is just such a beautiful and dramatic song and that just fits taemin so well. Its dark and moody while also being very mysterious and intriguing. I understand how this could sound dated but since its taemin I dont think I could EVER get tired of it.
