Well SURPRISE!! 

We had to do this together since I'm forcing her to be a SONE lol. 

Loads of discussing so make sure you're comfortable and ready for the ride, it's a long review. 

BEFORE you watch, I want you to guess what my top 3/4 songs will be and see if you're right! 

One major takeaway from this album is the VOCALS. I'm very grateful that they put in a LOT of work in delivering complex melodies, ad libs and harmonies. The nations girl group for real! 

LOVED! 

*the screen recording on the ipad glitched towards the end annoyingly so the lyrics won't be accurate, apologies, it annoyed me so much but whatever*.

lmao I got too impatient to guess before watching, but I was guessing you'd like the dark soshi songs (Villain & You Better Run). When I heard You Better Run was gonna be a sequel to Run Devil Run I was curious how they would do it but then I heard that crazy ass sound and flipped out LOL. I was hoping you'd like Paper Plane, bc the more I listen to the album the more it's become my fave---I'm also a suckered for a good pop song. Something about its "finale" feeling, and the lyrics, make me so sentimental. The lyrics seem like a continuation of INTW---they've grown and reached their initial goals, and are now aiming for new heights. This album feels so classically GG but a touch more refined. They're not trying to prove anything to anyone, bc they know their seat is at the very top & I love it. It was so fun watching you both react to the album with your diff POVs, thank you so much!

Janet Jackson sound on Mood Lamp was so so good - if I remember correctly the girls used to mention Janet a lot in their early days wanting to try songs/stages they liked and looked up to her quite a bit. Yuri even did If as her solo cover number (they all had a concert where they did a full song solo per member, Taeyeon doing Hush Hush) bc she had been wanting to do a full Janet number for so long

Regarding the forever 1 lyrics, like what Taeyeon said, it was something they can finally say on their current state. If we look back to into the new world, that's what a rookie group would say, going into a journey where you didn't know what's going to happen but you're hopeful. In forever 1 tho, they talked about how people (we can assume their fans) have loved them, don't want the fans to get hurt anymore and after a long period of hiatus they're still together so after going for so long together they finally can say "let's go on for forever" where there's some degree of certainty there because we all have gone through so much. So i might disagree if you say it's something a rookie would say but i do agree it's a celebratory song and lyrics. Just a piece of my thought 😂
