"Well," Jadis confirmed, "that certainly is an axe."

Alessia sighed, pushing the witch gently aside to get closer to the tree. "And she threw this from over there?" she nodded to the stump and the scattered pile of firewood. It was a pretty good distance... And the axe was lodged higher up than it seemed possible the dwarf could have put it there himself without a ladder or some kind of assistance.

"That she did," Myls said. "Like it was nothing."

It was almost too high for Alessia to reach, either, though she did, nearly having to get up on her tiptoes to do it. She could tell right away that, as impressive as it might have appeared, there was no way she was going to be able to yank it out with one hand, so she wrapped both around the handle, pulling as hard as she could, in as awkward a position as she was in considering how far over her head it was. It refused to budge.

"Believe me now?" Myls asked with a smirk.

"It isn't that we didn't believe you," Jadis spoke up for the two of them. "It's just that minotaurs..."

Myls interrupted impatiently. "Yes, I know. This isn't what minotaurs do. But unless it was a giant that was wearing half a cow for pants..." He gestured down at the ground, at the hoofprints all around them in the dirt.

"Or an illusion," Alessia pointed out, looking to Jadis. "Could it have been an glamour?"

Jadis shrugged. "Sure, it's possible. That wouldn't change the caster's height, though, or their strength. There aren't many of them, but giant magic users do exist... I just don't know why they would bother disguising themselves as a minotaur, especially if they didn't take anything when they broke into the house."

"Even if they had," Alessia mused, "the guards aren't going to go hunt down a giant to get back a few dwarf trinkets." She glanced over at Myls, blushed. "Oh, sorry. Your things are very nice, but..."

Myls shook his head. "No, you're right. I live too far out of town for the guards to pay me much mind anyway. That's how I like it."

"So... What?" Jadis frowned. "Are we assuming it really is a minotaur, then?"

"Crazy as it sounds... Do you have any other ideas?" Alessia asked Jadis, who hesitated a moment before confessing the truth.

"No, I'm all out. Maybe whatever she was guarding was stolen, and now she's going out looking for it?" She was doing her best to sound knowledgeable, but she and Alessia both knew she was reaching, basing it off of guesswork and nothing more.

"Or she's gone insane," Myls suggested, probably not meaning to make it sound as ominous as he had.

Jadis and Alessia exchanged a look. "We're sorry for what happened here," Jadis said first. "But I don't know if we're ready to fight an..."

"We'll do it," Alessia cut her off.

"We will?" Jadis raised her eyebrows incredulously.

"I'm Alessia the Defender," Alessia reminded her. "How can I turn down the opportunity to defend a poor, defenseless dwarf - sorry, Myls - against a big, bad minotaur?"

"You're not that much taller than me," Myls mumbled self-consciously.

"I'm not," Alessia didn't mind admitting, though she did draw herself up to her full height. "But I've been a warrior for as long as I can remember, and, while I may never have faced a minotaur, I have no doubt that I will..."

She paused in the middle of her speech, shifting in place, feeling something was off, not quite managing to recognize it until she felt something warm trickling down her thigh. She blushed, pressing her legs together, for all the good she knew it would do her at this point.

Jadis, of course, realized what was going on instantly; Alessia could only hope Myls didn't as well. "Could we borrow your house for a moment to talk?" Jadis requested.

"Sure," Myls shrugged. "There's no door, though."

Alessia's eyes darted over to the dwarf's house, the witch taking it in stride as much as possible. "That's all right," she told him, taking a few steps towards it. "Come on, Alessia."

Alessia's blush deepened as she scurried forward, having been too embarrassed to move at first, only, now, to be embarrassed instead to be called out like a daydreaming child. She kept her cloak pulled tight around herself, praying Myls didn't look too closely at her. Somehow, she didn't think seeing the person he was going to trust with going after the minotaur who had terrorized him peeing herself would inspire much confidence in her abilities.

Jadis waited at the front door, ushering Alessia inside, following her in before flicking her wrist, lifting the door up off the ground and floating it in place in the doorframe, giving them, thankfully, a little privacy for the witch to take a clean diaper out of the seemingly endless bag of supplies slung over her shoulders and undo the cursed diaper pins on the one the warrior was already wearing after patting a spot on the floor to signal the woman to lie down.

Alessia could have - perhaps should have - handled it from there. All she really needed, after all, was somebody to remove the pins. She'd even convinced Jadis a few times to let her try, but she was never as thorough at it as her companion, and those had been the only times she wound up starting to develop a rash. Jadis knew all the right plants to use to make a ointment to cure her rash quickly, however Alessia would prefer not to deal with it as all... As difficult as it was to recall her old self while she was stuck in diapers doing so with an itchy case of diaper rash just made it harder.

And, at this point, Jadis had taken over anyway, had seemed to easily and eagerly accept her role, insisting in carrying all of the supplies, rather than having to search through Alessia often disorganized bag to find them. It was more convenient for Alessia, yes, but it did sometimes make the warrior feel like more of a baby, leaving all of that to somebody else, taking no bit of the responsibility for it herself.

"Are you certain about this, Alessia?" Jadis asked as she began to clean the other woman's crotch. "If you just want to prove yourself, there are easier ways to do it."

Alessia's cheeks reddened, though it was hardly a surprise Jadis had read her like a book. "It isn't that," she pouted, Jadis giving her a skeptical look. "Not entirely! But... I can do it! Right?" She fidgeted, staring up at Jadis, her silence speaking volumes. "Y-You think I can, don't you?"

"You're a very strong, capable fighter," Jadis agreed. "A minotaur, though?"

"I'll have you to back me up," Alessia smiled at the witch.

"I hope so," Jadis replied. "If we're unlucky, and it's one of the more ancient minotaurs... Some of those are immune to magic."

Alessia gulped, squirming on her back as her dry diaper was pulled up between her legs. She could see now why her friend had been so hesitant... Alessia had been assuming she'd be able to help, that, no matter the size, one minotaur wouldn't stand a chance against a warrior and a magic user together... This did change things.

But she couldn't back out now. If anything, her victory here would be all the sweeter if she had to do it on her own. "We'll make it work," she nodded, determined, while Jadis slid the enchanted diaper pins back into the thick cloth, sealing her back into her diapers, a constant reminder of why she was doing this. "We have to."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Tracking the minotaur was barely a challenge, not with Locasta to fly overhead and find the path of her destruction. She did seem to have calmed down a little, eventually, but this was a big creature... She couldn't travel through the forest without leaving some sign of her presence.

The path led to a cave, Jadis and Alessia halting outside of it to discuss what to do from there. "Do you think there's a labyrinth inside?" Alessia asked.

Jadis shook her head. "Probably not. It doesn't look big enough for that, and if the thing she was meant to guard was so close by, I doubt she'd be out wandering."

"True," Alessia nodded. "So, do we go in after her?"

Jadis furrowed her brow. "I don't know," she said after a moment. "If we stayed close to the entrance, maybe, but... I don't know if we want to be trapped in an enclosed space with her."

"Good point," Alessia admitted. She was confident she'd be able to win... Perhaps not on her first encounter, however. They still didn't know exactly what they were up against. "We wait."

They set up outside the cave, watching carefully, at least at first. When there had been no movement for a while, Alessia began to sharpen her spear in anticipation, then, finally, whispered, "She came out last time at night... Do we think she's nocturnal?"

"Hard to tell," Jadis replied. "Who can say how long she was wandering before she found Myls?"

Alessia sighed, nodded, going back to waiting, until she realized it was her least favorite time of day. She barely got any warning anymore, no more than a grumble or two from her tummy before she heard herself grunt softly, and the seat of her diaper began to fill. "Ugh," she groaned quietly. "Not now..."

"Better now than in the middle of the fight," Jadis pointed out, reaching into her bag. "Go on and finish up, and we'll get you..."

Unfortunately, that was when they heard the sound of movement. Alessia hissed a curse under her breath, her body more concerned with squatting down and pushing than obeying her and grabbing her spear, readying for battle. Jadis's gaze turned towards her, a flash of fear in her eyes as she recognized that she was all on her own until Alessia's bowels had finished evacuating.

"S-Sorry," Alessia squeaked, mortified at the timing, at how useless she was, at how there was no way she could live up to the name of the Defender, not of her friend or even herself, in the midst of this. She might as well have been an actual infant!

"We'd better hope she isn't an ancient minotaur," Jadis shrugged, slipping away, towards the cave, and the increasingly loud footsteps echoing from inside as a massive shape began to become visible.

If they hadn't already been bending, Alessia's knees probably would have gone weak, staring at her opponent. She was far bigger than Alessia would have guessed, and her armor, such as it was, made Alessia instantly jealous, reminding her quite a bit of her own chainmail bikini, except in leather. Alessia knew she'd looked good in hers - that was, after all, why she'd worn it, as it had hardly provided much in the way of actual protection - but that was nothing compared to the minotaur... Even if she hadn't been in the middle of filling her diaper, Alessia would have felt incredibly inferior next to her, seeing all those muscles, all those curves...

The minotaur threw her head back, sniffing at the air, scanning the area, and, after a moment, spotting Jadis. "What have you done with my baby?" she demanded, voice booming.

"What..? I don't..." Jadis shook her head, confused.

"Where is she?!" the minotaur roared, charging towards the witch, head down, horns glinting sharply in the sunlight. Jadis extended her hand out, murmuring a spell, but all that seemed to happen was a few colored sparks bouncing off the minotaur's flesh.

"Alessia?" Jadis called, sounding panicked. "We might have a problem!"

She invoked another spell, roots bursting out of the ground, encircling the minotaur's legs, but she barely slowed down as she ripped through them, eyes fixed on the witch, getting perilously close to her before Jadis vanished in a puff of smoke, reappearing behind the monster. The minotaur stopped, frowning, looking around in front of herself for far longer than it should have taken before thinking to turn around.

By then, Jadis had managed to levitate a tree out of the ground, swinging it magically like a huge club. The minotaur saw it in time to duck beneath it, and as Jadis swung it back again, the minotaur raised her hands, blocking it. The tree pushed her backwards, but didn't seem to hurt her much, if any... And just brought her closer to Jadis.

"Alessia?" Jadis cried out again, poofing away a second time as the minotaur charged at her, giving her no time to swing the tree a third time. In the moment it took for her to teleport, she lost sight of the tree, breaking her spell, sending it crashing to the ground. Alessia could see the witch panting, struggling to catch her breath, knew that this was taking quite a toll on her, that she wouldn't be able to last much longer on her own, not without the ability to use her magic on the minotaur directly...

Thankfully, she'd bought Alessia enough time. The warrior blushed as she straightened back up, feeling the contents of the diaper shift as she moved, squelching between her legs. This was hardly the ideal way to fight, but she was going to have to make it work. Extending her spear, she stepped out from her hiding spot.

Even from so far away, she could see the relief in Jadis's eyes as the witch moved her hands. A swirling portal appeared in front of Alessia, a second behind the minotaur as she began to lower her head, preparing another charge. Alessia ran through the portal, stomach lurching slightly as her view changed and she stepped out the other one, pulling her spear back to stab at the minotaur.

The minotaur heard her, had enough time to shift her attention, batting aside Alessia's assault like it was nothing. "Where did you come from?" she asked, more annoyed than awed at Alessia's might.

"I'm here to put a stop to your reign of terror!" Alessia announced, attacking again, the minotaur brushing it off again.

"I don't want to hurt you," the minotaur said, "but if you don't tell me where my baby is..."

"I don't..." Alessia frowned.

"I know he's here!" the minotaur fumed, taking a swing at Alessia, who barely managed to dodge it, taking the opportunity to swing her spear, finally making contact, only for the blade to bounce off the minotaur's skin without so much as as scratch. "I can smell him!"

The minotaur was angry now, fighting without thinking, but even then, Alessia could tell she didn't stand a chance. She could hardly keep up, and hated to think of what would happen if she failed to avoid just one hit from those muscular arms, and her own weapon wasn't doing anything. If she could find a weak spot, maybe; there was no time for that, however. "Give her to me!" the minotaur raged.

And, at last, when Alessia was starting to think this might be the end, Jadis shouted, "Stay still!"

"What?!" That did not sound like a good idea at all, but she trusted the witch enough to do so, flinching as the minotaur approached, head lowering, horns coming so very close to Alessia's chest...

Alessia wasn't sure where the breeze came from, which meant, most likely, it was Jadis's doing. Despite the witch's instructions, she couldn't help reaching for her skirt as she felt it getting caught in it, starting to lift up, her cheeks burning, horrified that she was about to lose this fight in a dirty diaper...

Suddenly, the minotaur's expression transformed. "Oh, no!" she exclaimed. "I'm so sorry! What was I thinking?" One hand closed around Alessia's arm before the warrior could react, pulling her in, the other moving to the skirt. Alessia squirmed, blushing bright red, so embarrassed it took her a moment to realize this was the perfect opportunity, trying to prepare the spear for a stab now that she was up close with the minotaur, while the monster raised her skirt...

"How did I not recognize you?" the minotaur shook her head. "Poor thing."

Alessia jabbed the spear, the minotaur easily catching it, yanking it out of her hands, and, a moment later, Alessia felt herself being draped over the minotaur's knees. "No!" the minotaur scolded, whacking the seat of her diaper with the handle of her own spear. "Bad girl! This isn't a toy!"

"H-Hey!" Alessia whimpered, feeling the mass in her diaper squishing at the impact, her bottom starting to become sore already.

"You know better," the minotaur told her. "I'm sorry for what I did, but that's no excuse, young lady!"

Alessia the Defender squirmed helplessly across the minotaur's lap, unable to defend herself from the spanking she was receiving. She held out as long as she could, but soon enough, she was kicking her feet and blubbering like a baby.

"Aww," the minotaur stopped, tossing the spear aside and cradling Alessia in her arms. "Mommy is sorry, sweetie... I just want you to be safe." The minotaur stroked Alessia's hair and back as the warrior did her best to calm down, to quell her tears... Only, when she'd done that, to see the minotaur reach up, undoing her leather bra, revealing a huge breast that Alessia was firmly lifted towards, pressed against despite her weak struggles. "Go on," the minotaur encouraged. "Drink up... You must be thirsty after all that."

"N-No!" Alessia gasped. "N-Not for..!"

But speaking at all was a mistake, the minotaur taking the opportunity to reposition her, to shove her nipple into her mouth. Alessia nearly gagged, feeling her mouth fill with warm, sweet milk, as the minotaur continued to rub her back, patting the lumpy seat of her diaper comfortingly. She was being breastfed... And there was nothing she could do about it. She could only hope Jadis was using this opportunity to come up with a good plan.

Instead, when the minotaur released her, tummy now full and sloshing with milk, the witch was waiting there, fresh diaper and supplies waiting. The minotaur looked down at her, nodded. "Oh, thank you." She pushed Alessia's dress up and began to change her like it was nothing unusual, like she'd done it a thousand times before. "Have you been looking after her? I'm sorry... When I couldn't find her, I panicked."

"No, no, I understand," Jadis assured her.

When she was securely pinned into her clean diaper, the minotaur lifted Alessia up again, carrying her into the cave, where she was laid down in the middle of a large bit of cloth, seemingly waiting there for her, the minotaur wrapping it around her, swaddling her like a helpless infant... Which, next to her, Alessia supposed she was. "There we go," the minotaur cooed. "I think you need a nice, long nap after that."

Jadis wasn't allowed to talk to her then, of course, but later that day, as the minotaur cooked some food that Alessia suspected she wouldn't be getting any of, the two spoke in whispers. "What is going on?" Alessia asked. "How can she think...?"

"I don't think she has a baby," Jadis told her. "I think she went after Myls because he's so small, she thought he could be a child, until she noticed his beard. When we were fighting, she kept switching what she was calling the baby... I think whatever she was guarding originally, she lost long ago, and at some point her maternal instinct kicked in, and she decided her baby must be what she should be protecting now... Except, she never actually had one, so it confused her, and sent her off searching for one. And now that she found you..."

"I can't be her baby!" Alessia hissed. This mission was supposed to be her chance to prove she was still a warrior! She couldn't beat it by letting herself be turned into even more of an infant!

"I don't know if you have any choice now," Jadis shrugged. "Now that she's found you... Besides, it might be kind of nice."

Alessia scowled. "That's easy for you to say!"

"I just mean, to have a bit of muscle for our group."

"Hey!" Alessia pouted.

"Well, you're not exactly... intimidating... anymore," Jadis put it as delicately as she could. "And she definitely is. I bet I can convince her to let us keep traveling by telling her it's good for babies to see new things when they're little... Just think of how useful she'd be against Rowena."

Alessia couldn't deny that... Or the fact that, like it or not, she was no match for the minotaur. It would be better to have her on their side, rather than risking having her trying to hunt them down if they attempted an escape... Even if it meant being her baby from now on. Maybe, if she was really lucky, her Mommy would let her 'play' with her spear from time to time, under supervision...

"What are you two talking about?" the minotaur asked, sitting down next to them. "The stew is done," she told Jadis. "While it cools, though, I'll go ahead and give the little one her supper. Are you hungry, sweetie?"

Alessia pouted, watching as the minotaur undid her bra again, but, like it or not, the only thing that she could think to do was say, as politely as she could, "Yes, Mommy." The milk wasn't that bad, she supposed... She was sure she'd get used to it eventually... Hopefully, they'd find the sorceress who had cursed her before she had to, however.
