Valerie felt a little like royalty as she sat on her throne, looking out at everyone gathered there in front of her... Until, of course, she moved, hearing her diaper crinkle, or looked down and remembered that what she was really sitting on was, in fact, her high chair, what she sat in every day to be spoon-fed by Nanny. She made too much of a fuss over the mushy oatmeal and baby food most of her diet consisted of, so she was no longer trusted to feed herself... Which meant she also didn't get any say in how much she ate, having to keep going until Nanny tired of shoveling the stuff into her mouth.

But that wasn't what was happening now, thankfully, in front of all of her friends. No, they were all here to give her presents. Anita was the first, strutting up with a smug, "I know you're going to love this!" Valerie didn't want to open it, didn't want to see what it was - or let anyone else see - though, with Nanny standing in the back of the room, gesturing for her to continue, she knew she didn't have a choice.

She ripped off the wrapping paper, opened up the box, and froze as she looked inside, cheeks burning. "Go on," Anita urged, grinning. "Show everyone!"

Valerie wrinkled her nose, memories flooding her mind as she reached down and picked it up. It wasn't exactly the same cheerleading uniform Anita had made her wear... That would have been far too big for her now. This was certainly inspired by it, taking the uniform and turning it into a single piece, a frilly baby dress with a skirt even shorter than the one she was wearing now, guaranteeing there would be no hiding her diapers in it, an infantile mockery of the uniform she'd already hated having to wear, even for an afternoon.

"I know you didn't quite make the squad," Anita giggled, "but now you're an honorary member! Isn't that sweet?"

Valerie stuffed the dress back in the box, only to catch a pointed glare from Nanny. She knew what she had to do, as much as it pained her. She groaned, forcing a smile. "Th-Thank you," she groaned, happy to see the cheerleader step away. Surely the rest of the gifts wouldn't be as bad... Right?

"I guess I'll get mine out of the way," Stacy said next, shuffling up awkwardly to the high chair. Unsurprisingly, she'd used a gift bag - she'd never been any good at wrapping, or, rather, she'd never had the patience to do it well - so it was simple for Valerie to reach inside, pushing aside the tissue paper, to pull out...

"Oh," she blinked. "Wow."

It was a set of blocks, like the ones she had to use to entertain herself now... Except these were even more babyish than those. They were made out of cloth, so there were no hard edges for her to hurt herself on, with a layer of plastic underneath so they crinkled, and rather than having letters of the alphabet on them, they were decorated with animal silhouettes, clearly meant for somebody so little that they weren't ready to try to learn their letters.

Stacy could sense her discomfort, and, to her credit, she looked bashful for a moment. "I-I thought the invitation said this was a baby shower," she said. "I thought maybe you'd outgrown all this, and found a boyfriend over the summer or something... It wasn't until I got here that I heard that it was your birthday." That definitely stung; if anyone should have remembered her birthday, it was Stacy. That just went to show how much the girl had stopped thinking about her, she supposed. "But it seems like it's still a very appropriate gift." Valerie blushed, seeing her former friend regain her usual confidence, her uncertainty fading away, smirking down at her, realizing that Valerie was stuck there, unable to get away, too meek to complain. "I hope you have lots of fun with them, while I'm away at college. I guess you were the one who should have studied more, huh?"

Valerie squeaked as Stacy reached past the high chair's tray, giving her tummy a poke, her stomach churning, threatening to loosen at any moment. She recalled all the times she'd lectured Stacy about taking school more seriously, how sometimes she'd refuse to hang out with the girl before a big test when she knew Stacy hadn't studied enough... It was all for Stacy's good, of course, and yet, now here they were, Stacy about to go to college, while Valerie had just started kindergarten for the third time.

"What do you say, Valerie?" Nanny asked from the back of the room.

Valerie growled, Mary Janes kicking in frustration... But even if she could get out of this chair, what could she do? She was the size of a toddler, surrounded by full-sized high school graduates... She was helpless here. "Th-Thank you," she forced herself to say.

"You are so welcome," Stacy patted her on the head. "You know, I'm really glad I decided to come after all..."

Valerie sat there, fidgeting, while the rest of her friends came up, one by one, setting their gift bags and neatly wrapped boxes on her tray like offerings. They had seemingly also been under the impression that this was a baby shower - to the point where Valerie was positive Anita must have told them that when she invited them - so the presents were all meant for an infant... Which meant, as so many of them felt the need to comment, they were perfect for her now.

Even Summer, when she emerged from her room, who definitely knew better, gave her a plastic tea set, with smiling faces on the tea pot and cups, and plastic 'cakes' that lit up and played songs when they were pressed... Although, if anyone deserved to give Valerie a gift like that, it was her.

"Thanks," Valerie grumbled perfunctorily, Summer adding it to the pile of baby toys and outfits and blankets that had been forming under the high chair once she'd run out of room on the tray.

"I have something else for you later," Summer told her quietly. "In my room."

"Really?" Valerie blinked up at her, but by then, her sister was already moving away, letting the next person come up.

She was not in the best mood after that; even knowing that Anita had tricked them all into getting her these things, it was hard not to feel like this was how they saw her, especially when they all seemed so amused, and delighted, when they gave them to her. And her mood didn't improve when her parents announced that it was time for cake, only to produce one rather small, round cake with pink icing, setting it on the tray in front of her.

Valerie's tummy was really hurting now, which only added to her grumpiness... If she weren't sitting down, she suspected she would have used her diaper long ago, and there had been a few close calls as she unwrapped gifts, leaning forward a little too much in her seat, her bottom raising up a hair too much... She'd been able to stop it, to clench and get away with only a bit of a sticky spot in her diaper, though one that kept growing the more it happened...

"I-Is this all?" she asked with a sigh, looking around at all the guests. This would hardly be enough for her, even at her current, shrunken size, let alone everyone else! She didn't mind letting them go without cake after the stupid baby presents they'd all given her, but it would be weird to just sit and eat cake while they all watched...

"Of course not, silly," her mother chuckled. "We have a nice, big sheet cake for everyone... But Anita had an adorable suggestion, and we couldn't pass it up! First, though, we'd better get you out of this pretty dress... We don't want you to ruin it..."

"Mommy!" Valerie gasped, unable to keep the woman from whisking off her dress, leaving her sitting there in her Pampers and pink Mary Janes, trying desperately to keep her flat chest hidden, which left her diapers fully visible beneath the high chair's tray.

"It's all right," Anita stepped up. "We're all friends here... Besides, it's not like there's anything there to see anyway." Valerie blushed bright red as the cheerleader giggled, hearing the sound spreading across the room as other people agreed with that sentiment. "Now, go on... Nobody else can have any cake until you have fun with yours."

Valerie shook her head. "I-I don't know..."

"Sure, you do," Anita told her. "All babies do... It just comes naturally. Get a nice handful of cake, and then we can all have a slice of the grown-up cake."

Finally, after probably too long, it hit Valerie what was going on, her head swimming with humiliation when it did. A smash cake. They'd gotten her a smash cake! They wanted her to sit there in her diaper, in front of everyone, and make a huge mess, like a toddler!

"No!" she pouted, keeping her arms crossed. "No, I won't do it!"

"Come on, Valerie," her mother urged. "It's going to be so cute!"

"No!" Valerie refused, kicking her feet against the legs of the high chair in defiance. "I'm not a baby!"

"Valerie," her mother's tone changed, turning into more of a warning. "I know this is your party, and this has been a lot of excitement, but you know better than to throw a tantrum..."

"This isn't a tantrum!" Valerie raged, thumping the back of her shoes even harder on the chair. "I'm not gonna sit here and eat cake with my hands like a stupid little baby, and you can't make me!"

In the heat of the moment, the only way she could think of to prevent that, the only power she really had, was to reach out and give the cake a shove, feeling a sense of pride as she watched it tumble off the tray, even knowing that she'd had to move her hands away from her chest for a moment to do it.

"Valerie!" her mother scolded. "You got that all over your nice presents, and the carpet! What has gotten into you, young lady?!"

Valerie grinned, staring down at her, kneeling in front of her, feeling, for once, like she was the one who had some power here... Until she looked over and saw Nanny there beside her, unlocking the tray. "I don't know what's gotten into her," the woman said, "but I know how to get it out."

Valerie's eyes widened, her head shaking. "N-No!" she squealed. "N-No, I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean...!"

That didn't stop Nanny from plucking her out of the high chair, carrying her through the crowd of people, over to the chair at one side of the room. Valerie knew exactly what was going on, and did her best to squirm free of Nanny's grip, to no avail, as her guests changed formation, turning to watch as Nanny sat down, and Valerie was draped over her knees. "Nanny, no! Not now!" she whimpered.

She was so concerned with that, in fact, that she forgot about her other pressing concern, only to get a rude awakening when the next cramp hit her. She gasped, fighting with every fiber of her being to stop it, knowing that everyone was seeing this, their eyes fixed firmly on exactly the spot she didn't want them to see... But it was far too late. All she could do was grunt and groan as she started to fill her diaper, feeling the soft, warm mush begin flowing into her Pampers, creating a rapidly growing lump in her padding.

Even if there was anyone who didn't know what they were seeing, that didn't have any younger siblings, or babysitting experience, who couldn't piece it together front the sounds she was making, and the smell that was starting to emanate from her, Nanny ensured they were all on the same page. "Really, Valerie?" she asked, unimpressed, giving the back of Valerie's diaper a pat, spreading the mess around further, to the girl's chagrin. "You think messing your pants is going to get you out of this spanking?" Valerie winced, hearing a shockwave of whispers spreading throughout the group, whether it was from the confirmation of what was about to happen, or of what was currently going on.

"Nanny, please," she sniffled, wiggling helplessly as her diaper continued to balloon behind her.

"I don't care if it's your birthday party, young lady," Nanny informed her. "And I don't care how full your diaper is... Your behavior has earned you a sore bottom and some time in the corner... And that's exactly what you're going to get. Since you couldn't be good, all your friends will just have to see what happens when you're a naughty girl. If you keep fussing, I might even tell them how common that is..."
