The start of a new caption/short story series, commissioned by an anonymous Patron. Picture property of Pampered Penny and Little Sophie Studios.

"Hello, there," the strange woman smiled, making Sophie jump in surprise as she walked into the living room, ready to plop down on the sofa and veg out for a little while, "you must be Sophie."

"Oh!" Sophie laughed to herself, shaking her head, feeling her heart pounding in her chest. "Sorry, I didn't see you there! Y-Yeah, that's me." She turned, uncertain whether to offer her hand to be shaken or not. What was the protocol here, exactly? She'd never been in quite this situation before. "I guess that makes you Penny."

She was happy for her mother, of course... It had been quite a while since Sophie's father had been in the picture, so she was glad she'd found someone else. And Sophie was in college now, so she was going to be moving out soon; it wasn't really her place to tell her mom she could or couldn't invite someone to live with them, if it ever had been. Sophie just wished she'd had the chance to meet Penny first, to get used to her... It was community college, so, unless she got a job, too, and one that paid well enough to cover an apartment, she'd be here another year or two, at least.

Sophie could definitely tell what her mother saw in Penny, right away. She was absolutely gorgeous, and intimidating, even sitting down and smiling. For perhaps the first time, Sophie understood why littles always seemed so scared of Amazons, or even of her, as a Betweener. Sophie's mother, Andrea, was an Amazon, but Sophie had, of course, had her whole life to get used to her. Penny was one as well, and one who had just suddenly appeared in her life, seemingly.

That wasn't completely true; her mom and the woman had been dating for a while now, had, in fact, just gotten engaged. Sophie had been more than willing to take advantage of the time they were off together on dates, to have the whole house to herself... Now, however, with the wedding looming closer, they'd made the choice that it would be easier for all of them if Penny moved in here, rather than the two of them moving in with her. Sophie had been trying to delude herself that it didn't matter, that nothing would change, but, obviously, some things were going to have to.

"It certainly does!" Penny grinned. "It is just wonderful to finally meet you, dear! I've heard so much about you! You are even prettier than your pictures!"

Sophie blushed. "Thanks," she replied sheepishly. "Y-You, too."

"And sweet, too," Penny chuckled. "Now, do you need me to leave?"

"Huh?" Sophie frowned. "You just got here..."

Penny shook her head. "No, silly, not the house... The room! I assume you have homework? If this is where you do it, I'm happy to clear off and find somewhere else to sit. I wouldn't want to disturb your routine!"

Sophie did, and plenty of it, though, like any good college student, she was putting it off until later that night. "No, it's fine," she told the woman accommodatingly. "I was going to see what was on TV, scroll through some apps, you know... That sort of thing."

"Oh." Penny said it much quieter than Sophie had, a few moments earlier, although it sounded even more shocked anyway. "You're done with all your work already?"

"No way," Sophie scoffed. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it later!" She grabbed the remote, flipping on the television. "What do you like to watch?"

But Penny had already stood up, frowning. "These shelves are looking rather dusty," she observed. "And I saw quite a few dishes in the sink earlier..."

"Don't worry, mom'll get those," Sophie took out her phone.

Penny watched her for a few moments before heading out, presumably to go finish unpacking. Sophie shrugged, curling up on the couch for another lazy afternoon, unaware that it was going to be her last one for a very long time.

"Are you serious?!" Sophie gasped, looking over at her mother for help.

"I think she has a point, sweetie," Andrea shrugged. "It wouldn't hurt for you to help out a little more... You are an adult now, and you're going to be moving out on your own before long... You should get used to having to do this sort of thing. There won't be anyone to do it for you."

"Maybe I should have my own daughter so I can make her do it!" Sophie pouted, crossing her arms, only to be immediately yanked up by them, a strong hand closing around her upper arm, jerking her off the chair. "Hey!"

"I know you just got those rules," Penny told her, easily pulling her out of the dining room, through the house to the bathroom, "but rules are rules, young lady, and I don't appreciate people breaking them."

Sophie was surprised as how strong the woman was, although she hadn't exactly spent a lot of time being manhandled by Amazons, so perhaps it was normal. It was still scary, either way, no matter how much false confidence she tried to project as she was led into the bathroom, Penny standing right in the doorway, blocking her inside, picking up a bar of soap and starting to run it under the faucet. "Wh-What is that supposed to be?" she asked, trying not to sound worried.

"You talked back to your mother," Penny explained calmly. "So I'm going to wash your disrespectful mouth out with soap."

"What?!" Sophie squealed, unable to help herself, clamping her hands over her mouth in shock and disgust. "You wouldn't dare!" she mumbled from behind them, eyes shooting to her mom, who had finally caught up with them, and was standing in the hall, watching. "You can't let her do this!"

But her mother made no move to stop this, simply observing as the bar of soap was wetted down, Sophie fidgeting frantically, imagining herself undergoing such a childish, humiliating punishment, like a naughty kid, or a little...

"Move your hands," Penny ordered, satisfied with the soap. "Now!" Sophie jumped, gulped. "Sophie, if I have to move your hands myself, I'm putting you over my lap, too."

Was this woman seriously threatening to spank her?! Sophie blushed, feeling a few drops of liquid dribble into her panties, from panic and disbelief. "I-I'm sorry!" she begged. "I-I'm sorry I talked back, mom, a-and I'll do the chores! I'll follow the chart!"

"Move your hands," Penny repeated stoically.

Sophie whined, stomped her feet... But there was no way out. Sniffling, she caved in, slowly moving her hands away from her mouth, nose crinkling as she saw the soap being lifted up, moving closer and closer to her...

Then, at the last moment, being set back onto the soap dish, Penny leaning down and kissing her on the forehead instead. "Very good," she said. "I knew you were a good girl. We'll call it even this time... Now, go change your pants, and I'll choose to believe that isn't a regular occurrence, at least for now."

Sophie blushed, looking down at herself quickly. She hadn't thought the little accident was big enough to be seen... And she still didn't, after that. There was a tiny spot, but there was no way Penny could tell what that was! Even Sophie herself wasn't convinced she hadn't dribbling a drop or two of coffee on herself. "I-I didn't..." she said defiantly.

"Don't add lying to your list of broken rules," Penny warned her. "I gave you one free pass, but that's all you're getting, young lady."

Sophie gulped. "Y-Yes, ma'am," she scurried past as Penny stepped aside, allowing her out of the bathroom at last, heading back to her room do change her clothes.

"Wow," Andrea watched her go, nodding, impressed. "You really know how to handle her."

"It's simple," Penny shrugged. "Children need rules, and discipline... And she's still a child, isn't she?"

"Oh, yes," Andrea shook her head. "But I've been doing my best."

Penny raised an eyebrow, clearly not entirely convinced about that, though she decided to let it go for the time being. "Let's go finish breakfast before it gets cold."

Sophie was glad to see she was alone when she got home from classes that day, happy to have some time to herself to decompress, to process everything that had happened that morning. She headed to the kitchen for a snack, cheeks burning as she saw the list of rules, and the chore chart, that Penny had shown her that morning, both posted prominently there.

Sophie didn't consider herself spoiled - although, she supposed, nobody probably did think that about themselves - and she'd had chores before, when she was younger. She helped out around the house now, too, usually.... When she'd first started college, however, her mother had told her not to worry about them while she was studying for a big test, and Sophie had never quite gone back from that. She'd vacuum or take out the garbage every now and then, but not nearly as much as she'd used to.

And she'd never had a chart. It felt so childish... Even if she hadn't been doing it lately, she was happy to help with whatever needed to be done, when it needed to happen, but she was an adult; she could decide that on her own, without needing this thing to tell her when it was supposed to happen!

On the other hand... Penny had been moments away from washing her mouth out with soap, and Sophie had little doubt she would have followed through on that spanking threat, too. She definitely seemed to be serious about this... Sophie sighed, looking at the chart, checking to see what she'd been assigned that day, hoping to knock it out quickly, just to be safe.

"Hmph," Sophie rolled her eyes, seeing that the chores for the day were the two things that had been mentioned to her the day before - dusting and dishes. "If she wanted them done so bad, she had plenty of time to do it herself," she grumbled, staring over at the sink full of dishes.

She really disliked washing dishes; it was so boring! She groaned, dragging herself over to them, filling the sink up with water, complaining the whole time. There weren't that many, to be honest, but, by the time she was done, she was already sick of this chart. She vindictively drew a checkmark in the box for the day, writing so hard the pen ripped through the paper, leaving a line on the white refrigerator door behind it, then went to her room to sulk.

She was still in there when she heard a tap on her door. "Sophie?" Penny called through it. "Are you doing your homework?"

"Go away!" Sophie barked back, without thinking. "Hey!" she shot up in bed, seeing her door start to open. "What do you think you're doing?! I didn't say you could come in!"

"And I didn't say you could be so disrespectful to me," Penny countered. "I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and take your word for it if you said you were working, just like I was willing to assume that was the reason you stopped your chores halfway through, or that you didn't mean to destroy your chore chart... But look at you! You're not doing anything!"

"I was... thinking," Sophie defended herself lamely. "I was going to get the stupid dusting done later."

"I'm sorry, Sophie," Penny sighed, "but I don't believe you. I think it's time you learned that there are consequences to your actions... Or inaction." She pulled out the chair from Sophie's desk, giving her lap a pat. "Come here."

Sophie gulped, remembering all too well the threat from earlier. "N-No!" she squealed.

In a flash, she was over Penny's lap, her jeans and panties around her ankles. She squirmed, shaking her head, trying to convince herself this was a bluff, that it would end like the mouth-soaping... And then, the first spank came. She howled, kicking her feet helplessly as the pain hit her, her bottom already starting to sting from the impact. "I-I'm sorry!" she gasped, shaking her head.

"I hope so," Penny told her, "but I'm afraid that isn't good enough."

She wasn't satisfied until Sophie's whole backside was pink and toasty, the girl blubbering like a little as she was put in the corner. She could heard Penny rummaging through her closet, but was too busy rubbing her rear to think about what was happening until she was finally turned back around, only to see the woman had found the oldest pair of PJs Sophie had left that would still fit her. She didn't even bother asking Sophie to do it herself, stripping the girl the rest of the way, then dressing her in the childish pajamas.

Penny stayed in Sophie's room, watching her, ensuring she did exactly as she was told, and went to work on her homework, then, when she was finished with that, lines, writing, "I will follow the rules," over and over until, at last, her mother returned home. Sophie felt a wave of relief wash over her, seeing the other woman there, although, as she watched her mom's face while she saw on her bed and explained what had happened, she couldn't help noticing a lack of horror in her expression.

"So, then," Penny stepped in, once Sophie was finished. "It's up to you. I think she deserves to go right to bed without supper... But if you disagree..."

Sophie squirmed on her bed hopefully, certain her mother wasn't going to betray her, would be on her side, could see that, despite the cartoon character on her PJs, that she was a grown-up...

"Whatever you say, dear," Andrea gave Penny a kiss. "If you think she needs an early bedtime, then so be it. Go on, Sophie... Time for bed, so you can think about what you did."
