Sheila hadn't been snooping, not really; even if she had, she felt she could justify it somewhat. She'd known Brian casually before he'd moved in, enough to trust her friends when they told her he was harmless, and would probably be a good roommate. He'd always seemed pretty nice, and that hadn't changed while they were living together, but she couldn't help feeling like there was something just slightly off, something he was hiding...

So, she waited until she was sure he was gone before knocking at his door - just in case - and opening it up slowly. She really was planning on doing the laundry, and, if he happened to come back while she was in there, she planned on claiming she had only wanted to see if he had anything she could throw in, to fill the washer up the rest of the way. When she saw his laundry basket sitting there, in front of the closet, she decided she'd go ahead and wash them up, anyway, as a sort of apology for this.

She wasn't really certain what she was looking for, but the room looked mostly the same as it had when it was just a guest room. There was nothing in there, at first glance, to make her think he was a serial killer, or anything like that, and after a moment or two, she started to feel bad for invading his personal space. It didn't stop her from taking a quick peek in his closet before taking the basket and leaving.

She was berating herself, hating that she was acting so paranoid for no apparent reason, while she loaded his clothes into the washing machine when she found it. At first, she didn't recognize it, couldn't quite process what the white mass could be. It was incredibly thick, and soft, and there was a faint smell of ammonia to it as she unfolded it to discover a wet spot...

It took another few moments to process it, and accept it. If he was having some sort of incontinence issue, she could understand that, but that didn't seem to be the case... Surely, she would have noticed something this bulky under his pants... If it was only at night, it was hard to believe he'd have only gone through one in the amount of time it had taken for him to build up so much other laundry...

Her guilt was rapidly replaced by curiosity as she headed back to his room, this time doing more than looking into his closet. A little digging produced more of the things, which only served to confuse the issue even more. Finally, instead of trying to come up with possible solutions on her own, she turned to the internet.

Any worry she had over what was going on was quickly assuaged as she discovered the corner of the web devoted to adult babies. It all looked so sweet and innocent... And, considering she had just broken up with her fiance because he had told her he wasn't interested in having kids, at all, it was pretty hard to resist. She knew she should maybe be upset with him for not telling her, and a part of her almost wondered if he somehow knew why her relationship had ended, and had wanted this to happen all along, but she was easily able to convince herself she was being silly.

Even if it had been a trick, and he just wanted to take advantage of her maternal side - which had no other outlets right now - what harm would it really do? He needed someone to take care of him, she needed someone to take care of... It could work out for both of them.

She'd planned on just leaving his laundry basket, with his clean clothes in it, in front of his door, but, instead, she folded them, putting them away carefully, already feeling like a Mommy, looking after her little boy, and filled the basket back up with the diapers from his closet, topping them off with the newly cleaned one, then waited to greet him in the living room when he got home.
