A caption commission from LittleLadyLuna to continue her previous captions, and bring them into the Halloween season.

"See, Mama?" Luna beamed proudly, feeling her slip a finger into her training pants. "I'm ready for big giwl panties!"

She pouted a little, hearing her voice start to regress back a bit - though luckily, not all the way to babbling - as she said the last phrase. Nanny was such a cheater... She'd promised to let Luna talk again, if she could prove she was able to get through a whole hour without sucking on her pacifier or her thumb; it had been tough, but Luna had done it. And, even though she had, Nanny still made it so that Luna had trouble saying things that were especially childish.

When she'd complained about it, Nanny had threatened to not only take her back to babytalk, but completely back to babyhood... Luna had begrudgingly let it go. If she was a baby, after all, there was no way she'd be able to go trick or treating.

She'd been getting pushed through the store in her stroller when she saw the costume, started mumbling excitedly from behind her pacifier, pointing. "Those are for big girls," Nanny had told her. "You're too little to stay up for trick or treating... Besides, babies don't need all that sugar."

But Luna had insisted - and, while in full baby mode, that meant she'd cried, since that was about the only route open to her. It had been embarrassing, sure, but after spending an unknown, though certainly quite long, time as her former best friend's overgrown infant, she'd gotten quite used to embarrassment.

Finally, Nanny and Mama had decided that, if it meant so much to Luna, they could see if she was ready to go trick or treating. At first, she'd thought maybe she could be a big girl again - she remembered she had been one, once, though any further details were extremely hazy - but they couldn't make things that simple... No, she had to prove that she was ready for all the privileges that came with growing up.

"Well, you're almost there," Mama shrugged, sliding her hand back out of Luna's trainers and pulling her pants back up over them. The girl pouted, squirming, blushing as she noticed the damp spot. She'd thought she was doing so well, too!

"I-I tried!" she sniffled.

"I know you did," Mama gave her a hug. "And you did a good job... You just aren't ready for panties yet, that's all. Aww, don't be sad, sweetie... You can still trick or treat in your Pull-Ups!"

Luna nodded, although that didn't stop her from sulking. In a way, it was a relief, since trying to keep herself dry for that long had been pretty stressful, and she remembered enough about Halloween to know it was lots of fun, so she'd probably be distracted. On the other hand, she'd really wanted to prove she was ready for big girl panties, and wear those under her costume instead, and do... whatever grown-ups did instead of use diapers. She knew they did something else - they had to, since the underwear she'd managed to see under Mama and Nanny's skirts while she was crawling around under them was way too small to hold any accidents - but she remembered absolutely nothing about what that was.

"I'm proud of you for not throwing a tantrum," Nanny told her. Luna's mood brightened, hoping she'd get a treat, or maybe even another big girl privilege... Instead, Nanny just said, "Now, come over here." Luna crawled over to her obediently, letting her help her up into a chair at the table. She'd had a tea party there earlier, and her friends were still sitting there, waiting for her to continue their conversation. Her snacks were there as well, along with the milk that Nanny let her drink, saying she was too little for actual tea, in the cute kitty sippy, and she was tempted to have some of each after all that work, staying mostly dry. There was also a coloring book, and a box of crayons, which Luna hadn't seen before, and instantly wanted to use.

When she reached for the crayons, however, Nanny stopped her, resting a hand on hers. "Hold on, dear, let me explain... I want to see how coordinated you can be, because it takes a lot of that to be able to walk. And you have to walk to trick or treat, don't you?" Luna nodded; she supposed she could have Nanny or Mama push her in her stroller, but if they had to do that, they'd probably just decide she wasn't big enough to go out at all. "So, I want you to color me a picture from this book, but stay in the lines. Can you do that?"

Luna nodded, a little more slowly this time. She knew it was possible... It was pretty hard, though! Still, she was sure she'd feel like much less of a baby if she didn't have to crawl around everywhere, so she tentatively opened the book and began flipping through it. There were lots of spooky pictures, like cats that she was sure were meant to be black, monsters, and even an icky spider, but she settled on a page with a house, a witch flying around it.

Picking up her crayons, Luna got to work, suckling furiously on her pacifier as she concentrated, rising up out of her chair so she could reach the top of the page, totally intent on her work... Never noticing, once she'd lifted her bottom, the sticky, gooey mass invading her pants. She was pretty used to it, after all, so there was no need to give it a second thought...

At least not until she declared, "Done!" and sat back down, beaming proudly from behind her pacifier, until her backside actually landed on the seat again, and sank into the mess, squelching beneath her, squishing between her legs... Her look of triumph softened for just a moment, before she forced it to return, trying to pretend like everything was normal as Nanny approached to examine her work. After all, she was only supposed to be coloring, right? Nanny couldn't get too mad about whatever else happened... Could she?
