"Are you serious?" Mary looked at the objects on her friend, Sophie's, bed with disdain, hardly able to believe they were there, much less that Sophie actually wanted her to put one on.

"You don't haaave to," Sophie rubbed the toe of her shoe into the carpet, staring down at it bashfully. "I just thought... Well, it's just... You see..."

Realization began to dawn on Mary, making her feel awful, both for herself and Sophie. "Wait, do you...?" The other girl didn't answer, but that told Mary enough; she would have denied it immediately, if she could. Anyone in their position would have, Mary was certain.

As littles, the two of them had been dodging just this for as long as they could remember, doing their best to prove they could be mature, productive members of society. Mary had thought Sophie had it made, finding herself a Betweener fiance who didn't seem to want to baby her; Mary was still trying to save up enough money to move into her own house, out of her apartment that was owned by an Amazon.

It hadn't been when Mary had moved in... Another little had bought it, and wanted to use it as a safe haven... Mary still thought that was a good idea, until the new landlady had taken over, proven to some corrupt judge that the previous owner was incompetent, and took over the woman's building and her life. Mary still had another year on her lease, unfortunately, so she was doing her best to lay low and keep from attracting the Amazon's attention to keep from ending up like her.

"It isn't that bad," Sophie finally explained. "I just... Every now and then, you know? Don't you have accidents like that, sometimes?"

Mary did, of course - everyone did. The Betweeners and Amazons claimed it was just littles, but Mary didn't buy that for a second. She didn't have them very often, however, certainly not enough to warrant... this. For the sake of her friend's dignity, however, she nodded. "Yeah, I guess... Is Luke making you wear these?"

"No," Sophie shook her head. "He didn't even bring it up, I did that on my own... I just didn't want to mess up his nice house, you know?"

Mary shrugged. She did, she supposed... It still seemed odd that it was suddenly enough of a problem to solve it this way, since her friend hadn't mentioned it to her before. "Have you been to the doctor?"

Sophie shook her head again, more quickly this time. "No! The doctor's scary!" She blushed, seeming to realize how childish that sounded, though Mary couldn't blame her... Going to the wrong doctor with this sort of thing was one of the easiest ways to find yourself in diapers full-time, or put up for adoption. "I'm sorry, this was a dumb idea..." Sophie said, picking up one of the diapers. "I shouldn't expect you to..."

"No, it's okay," Mary forced a smile. Sophie was her best friend, after all, and this had to be a difficult thing to go through... It wouldn't hurt her to show a little solidarity for one evening while they hung out. "You're going to have to help me put it on, though."

Sophie nodded eagerly, perhaps a bit too happy to help her friend out... Mary chalked it up to her being glad to have someone to share her secret with, since, after being taped into the bulky thing, she certainly couldn't imagine anyone putting one on if they didn't have to. It was so huge, bulging out between her legs, easily visible under her skirt... That was half the reason she wore her skirts as short as she did, since it was an obvious indicator to any Amazons that she was definitely not in a diaper, or it would be showing, just like it was now.

"Oh, man, we're almost late!" Sophie squealed as she taped herself up, while Mary was still fidgeting, trying to get comfortable in the thick, crinkly garment. "Come on!" she grabbed Mary's hand, tugging her out of the bedroom and into the living room.

"What are we late for?" Mary asked, struggling to keep up; Sophie seemed to have a lot more practice walking in these things than she did... "I'm not going outside like this, I just... What's this?" She frowned, watching her friend pick up the remote and switch on the TV. The screen burst with bright colors and catchy music, instantly drawing her eyes to it as the theme song introduced her to the two main characters of the cartoon playing: Naomi and Oliver. Almost without realizing it, she slid down onto the floor, plopping down on her padded posterior, then leaning forward, resting on her tummy and staring up at the television, utterly transfixed, not even noticing her friend doing the exact same thing...
