This week I took a break from writing and worked on art.

I've been buying new assets needed for the episode, setting up some scenes, tried to learn new things, posing animations, and more.

Setting up scenes before producing art is usually very time-consuming.

What I mean by "setting up a scene" is all the work I need to do to prepare an environment for rendering.

The work includes adding the environment, objects, models, lighting, etc.

A scene can look something like this when it's ready to render (lighting not shown) and after it's rendered and gone through post-processing.

Setting up a scene can take anything from 5 minutes to a few hours.

And once that's done, changing poses on the models, modifying camera settings, etc., to queue up renders is relatively quick for me.

Yesterday, I spent quite some time experimenting with makeup for Sage, which is a part of setting up a scene.

I tried out different combinations to see if I liked something new.

Here's a quick render of it; please note that the actual render is not used in the game it's just for this status update.

Sometimes, the time is spent on trying on clothes, retexturing or modifying assets.

Plenty of time goes into these details for every model and environment in the game.

Setting up a scene is a fun and pivotal part of the game development that brings a lot of value. But at the same time, I can feel like nothing's getting done when I'm doing this.

There's so much time spent on activities that a render or animation count can't represent, and that's why I wrote this status update this way - to give you all some insight into this part of the game development.

Other than that, PCs are currently rendering animations, and I will wait until I have something considerable to report regarding render/animation count.

I aim to post the first preview of episode 8 before the end of the month.

Poll news

Today, a cosmetic poll for Sage ended, and this option was the winner.

A new cosmetic poll for Josy will start soon.

Have a nice weekend!

Wow. The art is worth the wait. Well done.

I'm so excited to play episode 8! I also really like how you try to make your work visable to us and what it takes to compose these renders. Keep up the great work!🤩

Mabs Ali

Amazing work! How many episodes are you intending for the game overall?

Anonymous

This is actually interesting. And I can't wait to see Josy poll and ep.8 preview) Thank you for the news and all the work)

14-20, check the Q&A posts, there's more info. You didn't ask me, but this question is so often, that I think DrPC is tired answering that)

Alpha Protagonist

Just a comment, but not one of these Females needs makeup. They are all hot as fuck plane Jane. Also in episode 8 can you make the MC and Sage get serious. It's a tough choice but i would chose Sage over any other female and that includes the Josy and Maya. Just something about Red Heads with Green eyes.

Great work as always!

Rebelyon

Looking forward to see more anytime 😘

I have kind of scratched the surface with Daz3D myself, so I can kind of understand just how much work is put into each scene. Ok just helps me appreciate this game that much more. Keep up the great work Dr. Pinkcake.

This is such a great status update—I appreciate this kind of insight into workflow far more than render or animation count. Really cool to understand more what goes into all the scenes, and I’m already stoked for more great content... Thanks, DPC!

Beast of Bray

I feel like if MC and Sage got serious, it would happen at the end of the episode. I think there's still a bit of conflict in there that needs to be resolved regarding Chad and the sorority.

Obviously you don't want to give away too many of your secrets which is fair enough, but I'd definitely be down for more of these types of render updates. Fascinating!

Ville Topi

Would've loved the pink-Sage to win but guess we can't have everything at once ;)

Tim Arnold

That first poll is a perfect example of why art shouldn't be democratic. Too many guys looked at that outfit and said "That's hot" without considering whether it fits Sage as a character. Fortunately there are numerous scenarios where that outfit can be "written in" so I'm not particularly upset by the result. I know there's no way Doc would leave an actual important plot choice to these polls.

love you dpc ❤️

I wouldn't put up an option for a vote that I wasn't ok with adding to the game.

MC's bedroom is fucking badass. Like a mini apartment

Sage looks better without the eye shadow. She kind of went overboard with it during the HOT party.

Apple Sauce

The whole process is awesome, thanks for the update dpc!

Gritty1983

Great update DPC i hope you do more updates like this. This way we can learn a little bit about all the hard work you do daily on top of the stats 😀

I enjoyed the sneak peek into your development process! Please be assured that your attention to every detail is greatly appreciated. The perfect placement of the models, the changes in expression, the slight glance to the side when an uncomfortable topic comes up...all of these details make this, BY FAR, the most enjoyable and immersive VN I've ever played. BY FAR. This is like a real-life drama, and I am captivated!

Mr. it's visibly clear to see how you improve your renders from episode to episode. a definite pleasure ! Great job!

larry82

Thank you, Dr! To me it's simply a miracle, how just one person is able do all the characters, all the environments, all the plot branches, the minigames and the compelling story just by himself. Please take care.

Thank you man, love you work

Blacklabyrinth

As someone who dabbles in Daz studio, I really appreciate how much work goes into your art. Replaying the game from the start also shows that your work has gotten better and better as the game goes on (an it was really good to start). Great job.

Martyn Romaine

Love your work Doc and the game is amazing
