This is the first proper status update for episode 6 since it was the first week I could work normally on game development after episode 5 release.

I've been writing and posing intermittently. It's been an uphill battle getting renders and animations in the queue while also having scenes written to pose the art for.

I always pose my art after dialogue is written, the other way around isn't a good workflow since I would have to fit dialogue to renders instead of making art to a story, which is more natural to me.

I usually start posing animations, but this time I've been posing more static renders than usual early on.

It doesn't cut development time, but it does make it easier to show you previews.

So far, ~700 renders and 26 animations are complete.

I've written approximately 45% of the main dialogue file, compared to episode 5, and I'm still trying to plan the scope of the episode.

Episode 6 will be more varied than episode 5 was and it will require me to write a new kind of code, which I'm really excited about.

Poll news

The winner of the Special render poll was Nicole/Envy, with a majority of votes in all polls. Sally came in second place and Camila came in third place.

It's going to be fun to devote a render series to Nicole/Envy and I hope you liked the new direction the special render poll has taken.

I'll post the first preview of Envy's special render series next week.

Soon another poll for longer animation will start. +$10 patrons will be voting for who gets a longer animation in episode 6. Jill won a similar poll in episode 5 and can't win in this poll.

Have a nice weekend

Awaiting the day of it release!

Quite a few devs render first and then write after, which I've always found strange. Yes changing the dialogue is far easier than the renders but the dialogue is what makes the story, not the renders.

DrPinkCake

Maybe it works better for them than it does for me. I can just speak for myself when I say I want dialogue written first. It makes me able to put expressions better for the dialogue and have the characters adapt to the situation. It basically makes the writing limitless and a recipe for the renders. The other way would make the renders a recipe and put limits on the writing. That's the way I see it.

im hoping that there be more options to interact more with Riona

Hello doctor,a very big thank for creating this fantastic game.Riona is my favorite girl and she looks so sad, really want to build a relationship with her and help her. Could you tell me if there will be a ending with her or at least it is under your consideration. Good luck and a very big thank to you

Doing God’s work Doc

Cody

Good to hear. No matter how long it takes I personally prefer larger updates and it sounds like this will be one.

Wesley

Keep up the great work Doc! Thanks for the update!

Joshua Entrekin

You uave made me fall deeply in love with 4 characters that i cant pretend to end up with all. I both love and loathe you for that. I am personally closly following Isabella's storyline as it has helped me cope with alot of things right now. Thank you.

HappyHuman

Riona's lovely and her 'rescue me' vibe is strong. I feel it too. :)

Ablur

Out of all the games hosted here, this is by far my fav game! Your animations are a pure work of Art! <3

I've never ventured into VN/AVN's before this. Acting Lessons and BADIK were my first ones and I don't see how I could play anything else besides the games you create. I tried playing a couple others and the quality was just not up to the same standard. You've set the bar high and I appreciate your passion and diligence in creating a deep, immersive story to go along with it.

Jeddite

If you are talking about the Pyro scene, I second that. Got a very strong Clockwork Orange vibe from that. Couldn't stop laughing. Great job!

such a hard worker there doc and you can really feel your passion for this hobby of yours keep up the good work my man!

Ardor

I agree. I've been reading other AVNs, but so far nothing truly compares. I've played BADIK way more than any of the others too. Other than that, Acting Lessons and Become A Rockstar are the only ones I've played more than once.

Please, i would love to see more of Riona in the game! (And Sage too tho...)

Ddraig

I'm agree with HG FaAnc... After chapter 5 I become a fan of Sage... She is a good caring girl.. Riona is Riona and she must have more scene because I know she is a sweetheart. Good work for this fantastic game

Dr P, I keep wondering if Quinn is going to come up with some evil scheme to exploit Maya and Josie. DIK is really the best!!

Anonymous

I couldn't agree more! After playing through dozens of times, Sage is definitely my favorite. Ive always wondered about the lunch counter girl. It seems you can get on her bad side but that's about it :)

David D

Yeah, agree with all the above. When I first started playing I fell completely in love with Maya and Josy, but there were things about the library scene that really bothered me. Before Ep5 Sage didn't seem possible, at least as a girlfriend, but now it looks like there's a chance. I like Rionna too, but she seems to be more of a friend/confidant, besides she's way too close to the Bitch Queen.

Yea i like see Riona as Main girl..

Perhaps a scene with Heather.

Roelandt

I agree! Doc NAILED it with Acting Lessons and BADIK was an unprecedented homerun. Absolutely fantiastic. Engaging, well-written, well-paced (and "well" is simply to small a word). I hope BADIK launches the sucess of the genre, considering on how high the bar has been raised. Major kudos!

Roelandt

Mona Mona Mona. Cough. Oh...and also, Mona.
