We just finished playing american arcadia a couple weeks before your fully ramblomatic, and we just spent the entire video glad you got the same general feeling from that surprisingly linear (but well handled) ending. Giving us a choice at the end would have removed agency from our main character.

It's one of the main reasons why people skip writing endings if they don't absolutely have to do it. The ending is where all the checks you've been writing to the audience get cashed, which can be great if you've done a good job, and a good time to start running if you've somewhat *narratively oversold* the whole thing.
