Legend of dragoon, the concept of a sequel or prequel has haunted me for 20 years now.

I was a (young) adult when I played Beyond Good and Evil and I remember having the very same experience. That's why BG&E has such a loyal following, 'cause we're definitely not alone. The game is full of moments that truly emotionally affect you when they transpire. I fear that, like Half-Life 3, the expectations around such a game have become somewhat crippling for the people who make it. How can you know if you are making something that will truly measure up to the original? I can't imagine the endless discussions, even just around the basic point of "do we basically remake the first game to play it safe and give people more of what they liked the first time around, or do we go in a new / different direction and make it its own type of game"... so much can backfire... I'd hate to be on a project like that, I think, personally. I do not envy them. Anyway, one can hope the care put into the new edition is a sign of things to come.

My version of this (also at age 9, didn’t realise we were the same age!) was Mgs: the Twin Snakes. As a Nintendo gamer this was unfortunately the only mgs game I had until I was about 21 but I must’ve played it to death. Narrative and an interactive game world the likes of which I had never even dreamed possible! To this day pretty much everyone forgets it exists or inexplicably prefers the PS1 original over the much improved remake but to me, it’s probably my favourite game of all time.
