James Brown had an influence on early hip hop in many ways, but the most obvious way is how early hip hop DJ's sampled his music. But was this… purely coincidence? Or was this a calculated move by the Godfather of Soul to GET people to sample his music? Was he trying to expand his Godfather title to encompass other genres of music? Had he tried this before? What does Disco have to do with any of this?  Today I'm talking all about James Brown, his influence on hip hop, and how his failed attempt to claim he invented a completely different genre of music set him up to be the Godfather of Hip Hop.

Yo man. You should make a music class and sell it. Layer it: YouTube - base content Patreon - base plus deep dive Class (any platform) - technical specifics, listening homework, etc. You record all content in one go and break it out like you do now between YT and Patreon. This is just a third layer. The blessing is your music education approach is considerably timeless and it's rich enough that people would buy it. Tangential revenue, minor uptick in content production. Just an idea, much like the track intros infused into playlists I harassed you about to get you streaming revenue. 😎

That’s right! Now that I can do more on Patreon I’m toying with even more ideas for next year 🤔
