really loved bleach as a kid, but upon rewatches have found the blaring missed opportunities for some of the settings and issues not explored in favor of "power up and kill next generic 'cool guy'" really hard to get past. Really really bothers me that Ishida constantly committing the equivalent of murder every time he battles on screen is basically never addressed again and its just supposed to be okay bc he became friends with 15 year old MC. Feels like a missed opportunity to explore more of the complexity with that interaction and the morality of it but it just gets passed over constantly. I know the standard argument is "its just a Shonen" but there are plenty of other Shonen that cover complex and intricate topics in ways that don't detract from the battles for people that don't notice or aren't interested. Like it really feels like the author didn't understand himself that he had admitted that what Quincy were doing was basically mass murder and Ishida's teacher only thought the Quincy were wrong for not listening to Soul Reapers. Not that what they were doing to begin with was wrong? Really? Closest equivalent in modern real world would be having a group be okay with mass murdering a subset of basically mentally ill people who can't control their actions. Okay rant over, but I will say that a lot of your analysis Lok has been great to see and that part of reacting has made this show more interesting again to at least see your analysis. Keep up the great reactions man
