Oda confirmed later that Sabo's memories were triggered by Ace and the word Sakazuki which means a cup of sake. Kinda show how even his antagonist's name can be used so creatively this way.

Aaaah we're almost done with Dressrosa!! Ace, Sabo, and Luffy's story will never NOT make me cry 😭. Also, love how Sengoku's retirement turned him into an easygoing old man, now him and Garp's gonna vibe together, eating rice crackers 🤣 Looking forward to see the end of this arc with you!
