Finally at the end of this road for now, but not for long!

I think we'll continue with the light novels from here instead of the manga, but I'd love to hear what you guys think!

Also, I think it's pretty safe to say that of all the live airing anime which aired in the 2023-2024 winter season, this wound up being my favourite!

Solo Leveling and Frieren are in leagues of their own so I'm not comparing in this regard, but this was just so much fun to semi-binge and whilst I'm super happy with how it ended, I really wish I still had like 12 more episodes ahead of me to just go crazy on.

The dawning on your face followed by fast blinking as you began to piece together the uncle revelation was amazing and so fun to watch xD I think one of the best things this story did was establish almost right at the start to "not speak on conjecture" and it is repeated several times by Maomao. Then it continues to unfold mysteries in ways that sometimes there are no clues presented, there is simply information the audience doesnt know and would be no way to work it out ourselves but its not treated as a gotcha twist, it is just reaffirming the theme to not speak on conjecture. Then we are introduced to an incredibly shady character of Lakan who we find out is pretty much the way he is through a few levels of autism and we are presented with a heartbreaking and sympathetic story matching that same theme on conjecture. The entire story is so thought provoking and engaging and I cant wait for more. This has been one of the few anime that I watch that i wasnt already familiar with the manga or LN beforehand and I'm also torn on which I want to get into next lol

Lakan suffers from Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, which is a cognitive disorder of face perception in which the ability to recognize familiar faces, including one's own face (self-recognition), is impaired, while other aspects of visual processing (e.g. object discrimination) and intellectual functioning (e.g., decision-making) remain intact. The only Faces, for unknown Reasons, he could ever see were those from Fengxian and Maomao. Also its changed in the Anime to "study abroad" but in the LN and Manga he was send away to a military campaign for being to close to his Uncle.

Bruh watching the lightbulbs go off on your face with the uncle realization was everything. During ep 23 I was like "surely he sees it", then "nope guess not", then ep 24 hits and it's like "here it comes, YESS". And yes, I was highly suspicious of Lakan being an unsavory character based on the way he was portrayed up until the last 2 eps. Personally I vote Light Novel (since you know I'm already reading it). But also, the manga for the art would definitely be worth it too. Love this story and can't wait to not only catch up reading but see what unfolds next as there is so much to unpack still.
