I thought it was a rock solid episode. It was a little different as far as the SRS goes, but I dig that it’s not all about war stories and tactics. It’s more about the human face of war, and the struggles that our warriors are bringing home with them. My grandfather didn’t open up about his time in WWII until the last 5-10 years. My grandmother told me a few things, like his nervous breakdown and electric shock therapy, but he spent about 30 years as a depressed alcoholic trying to cope with his time in combat. I think if therapies such as this were available back in the 50s and 60s, he would have been a much different person.

Also, as for the drug stigma and legalization goes, I think we as a nation need to move past it. Big pharma owns us, and if they can’t get a piece of the action, then they will do everything to stop it. When came face to face with my depression 13 years ago, I was actually amazed by how easy it was to get antidepressants. I j it at walked into a docs office, said I was depressed, and he prescribed me drugs right then and there. But if I went in and said I wanted to try a psychedelic therapy, he would have laughed me out of his office.
