Doctor Sleep talk! I don't think I've been more pleasantly surprised by a movie than Doctor Sleep the last few years, it was genuinely terrifying. There was an article by the WaPo cultural critic Alyssa Rosenberg about how she had to walk out of it because of a scene with Jacob Tremblay from Room. I thought she was being absurd because I mean, come on you're a critic... then I saw it and nope, nope, fair enough. Compared to the babytown-frolics jumpscare-fests of the new Its and Pet Semetary it was great to have a Stephen King movie that was actually unsettling. And there was some wonderful casting work to get around using CGI.

Will y'all do a Dean Koontz book review happy hour at some point? Perhaps share what you're reading so we can join in the fun (listen along)

BTW, listening to this while I'm writing recaps of legal sessions for the magazine I work for.

I remember that there was a made for tv miniseries or something based on Dean Koontz that made my parents go bananas

Jumping into doctor sleep discussion, with no spoilers... casting / wardrobe was great, and got the actor’s look close, but there was VFX work involved to get an even closer match. (I worked at the company that did it lol) It’s good that it’s not noticeable though because that means our work looks realistic 🙏🏻
