As mentioned at the beginning of the month, I have now made the following changes regarding the $1 & $5 tiers:

  • From May, the $1 tier (The Horde) will no longer receive early access to new Terminal Quickies comic pages as they release individually. Though keep in mind, these comic pages will still be released publicly once all pages are complete.
  • The $5 tier (Heroines) has been replaced with a new $3 tier (Survivors), but its content will otherwise stay the same. Unfortunately, I am unable to reduce the price of the existing Heroines tier. So the $5 tier has now been hidden, and current Heroines tier supporters will have to manually swap to the new Survivor tier. I will eventually deleting the $5 tier once everyone has moved over. And I will send out messages to remind those supporters to make the switch before the end of the month.

No changes are being considered for the $10 tier (Special Forces) at this time.

Additionally, I have updated to subscription based billing so that new patrons will now be billed each month according to the day on which they first subscribed. Rather than the 1st of each month, regardless of the date they initially singed up on. This will have no affect on existing patrons. You will still be billed on the 1st of each month as normal, unless you cancel your pledge & re-join at a later date.

What this change essentially means is that new(or rejoining) patrons who join late in the month will no longer get “double charged” by Patreon when the new month begins.

This will also eventually mean less pressure on me to deliver updates around the end/start period of each month specifically, once that is no longer the sole date on which everyone is charged. Hopefully resulting in more consistent rate of posts from me throughout the month, rather than a bunch only at the end/start which has become all too typical these last few years.

As for some reasoning behind the changes to the $1 & $5 tiers:

  • I’ve felt for some time that the $5 tier hasn't been providing enough value for those supporters. As a result, I often find myself going out of my way to force out some lesser polls or discussion posts to justify the price compared to the content the $1 tier was receiving. I appreciate that most supporters just want to help fund development itself & don’t necessarily pledge for the tier rewards. But I still want to ensure that folks are getting something worthwhile in return. Especially in the months during v0.10’s development when there are less big-picture polls/discussions to be had.
  • On the opposite end of the spectrum, I felt I was providing too much value for the $1 tier, considering how much of that original dollar actually gets to me after all the processing fees are taken out from the various platforms. I was tempted to just remove the $1 tier entirely, but decided to keep it & treat it more like a tip jar for those those who can only support a small amount, or are only interested in the newest builds & development blogs/previews leading up to it.

Basically, this new $3 “Survivors” tier is being conceived as the new "default" supporter tier moving forward. Hopefully it’s more affordable/accessible than the $5 was, for $1 tier supporters looking to upgrade. And will now provide more value, being the minimum tier to access the individual Terminal Quickies comic pages as they release.

One final thing. I've removed the "Name in the Credits" tier reward. It's troublesome to maintain the name list in-game & honestly is probably something most supporters probably don't want by default. :')

If you do wish to have your name in the credits, it will now be an Opt-In system rather than being added by default. So let me know in a comment or message if & how you'd like to be specifically credited in game.

Thank you for your support & understanding. If you have any issues or need help changing your pledge don’t hesitate to post a comment here or send me a private message. :)

for some reason it's 3.50 € for me. I wonder if that .50 is added by patreon or if an extremely inaccurate exchange rate from USD to EUR is in play.

Hmmm. Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue is there. All I do on my end is set the price in USD. Any currency exchange is handled on Patreon's end. They may have some exchange fee built in. I'm not sure.
