in the originals, the sire bond was kinda like that. we only saw it really in season 5, but hope made henry calm down in episode 1 by saying "feel better." In the garden, she did something similar by telling him to sing a song when he's scared and that he'd be okay. she also made him kidnap hayley, though we don't know how that conversation went. you're right though, in tvd it was different. It was more of "this will make me happy."
