Dialogue Update: Page 15 & 16 (Patreon)

Hey friends.

As I've been working on edits to prepare for the print volume, I decided to change up the dialogue on pages 15 & 16 from Chapter 1.

I've been doing writing research in character development/story arc generation/plot threading and realized certain scenes in my original Chapter 1 were just gods awful. 

And holding myself accountable to writing Jazmin's character, the only Black woman/main Black character in the story so far, I've been researching harmful/negative Black character tropes and how to avoid them. 

While I was doing this, I realized the original narrative for Jazmin painted her too closely to the "Black best friend" trope. Working to resolve this, I re-wrote the dialogue in these pages to better fit the new narrative and set up the subsequent scenes from the new pages that will be added to the story.

Continuing on that, part of the new pages I wrote (that Daryl is currently working on) will give Jazmin her own scene to start her own arc as a part of the new narrative that will attempt to steer her development away from the "Black best friend" trope.

Just wanted to keep you updated on changes to the story as I work on the finishing touches to the first volume. I promise more to come as we continue to inch closer to the finished product!
