This is a coincidence--I actually went to my local sex store (which "Different Loving" is modeled after) yesterday! The real life counterpart looks about identical to the drawing, except the front windows are filled with only pride flags and feminist/queer theory books instead of whips. I just wanted the store in my comic to be much more overt in what it sold from a street view, to make it extra embarassing for Rebecca to walk into :P

Hehe, I love how Embarrassed Rebecca is, pretty sure Anna is loving it too We actually used to have a sex shop in the next town over that was overt about what it sold. The guy who ran it was a chill friendly guy who believed there was nothing to be ashamed of about Kink and sex. Of course the local council hated him. They even stated "If we'd understood what he was going to be selling we would never have approved his business" Sadly despite his popularity the council's moral panic eventually led to the shop being closed down :(

I think all of us felt weird the first time we went into this kind of store, lol Yeah, from what I know the UK is really regressive when it comes to stuff like that. I actually wrote a final essay in uni about the anti-porn, anti-kink, anti-LGBT obscenity laws under Cameron (and the face-sitting protests that followed, lol). Yeah, it's all weird! I will say though, in my experience all the best sex shops are the one with a more reserved storefront, haha.
