Thank you Michael O for forwarding this info. There is sooo much FUD about what Uncle IRIS wants and requires.  Take a look here at this article. There are lots of varying opinions on this. I think even Mr. "I Don't Give a Buck" Schmelling will be conducting an interview with a Crypto Tax professional in the near future. We'll see. I hope everyone is in such a wonderfully wealthy place that these will be the issues we'll have to consider moving forward.

We are anxiously waiting for the next set of bulls to leave the pen. Any day now...

Have a great weekend folks. More updates over the weekend.

Bitcoin: IRS Takes On The Crooks-And The Good Guys

Turns out there's no FBAR mandate on your offshore bitcoin account. Is the government making a tactical retreat in its war on money launderers and tax cheats? In response to a request for guidance from an accountants' group, the Treasury Financial Crimes Enforcement Network has recently decreed that cryptocurrency accounts held by exchanges located outside the country don't have to be disclosed.

Crypto can't be classified as currency if the IRS says that crypto is property therefore medium of exchange for coffee can not happen until we convince the IRS (Bitcoin is money.)

Federal district Court declared Bitcoin as money so the IRS needs to change their ruling or we can sue IRS for back taxes lol crowd funding anyone

Yes! Bring in Mr. Schmelling to speak on the issue!

From a 5/19/2019 article: Representative Emmer and 20 other members of the House of Representatives sent a sharply worded missive to the IRS last month, asking the agency to clarify federal taxation policy on crypto – an action it hasn’t taken since releasing preliminary guidelines in 2014. In addition to the very basic questions that crypto traders and investors have regarding taxation, Emmer noted the need for a comprehensive approach. “There are many other open questions about the federal taxation of virtual currencies, but we feel that there is particular urgency in resolving the ambiguity around basic questions of how taxpayers should calculate and track the basis of their virtual currency holdings. It is not reasonable to expect taxpayers to satisfactorily answer these complex questions while the IRS remains silent.” https://dailyhodl.com/2019/05/22/irs-says-long-awaited-bitcoin-btc-and-crypto-tax-guidance-incoming/

Well we just got our daily update from our friend Mati Greenspan @ ETORO and he's reported about the FED's July 31 meeting. "As the Fed is now in blackout mode ahead of their July 31st meeting and the markets quite certain that they will cut their interest rates on that date, there's little in the way of market drivers at the moment."

Shane this is a issue for all of us. If you don't want a paper wallet then individual wallets is the only option right now. This is one of the pain points from being an early adopter. This will most likely not be an issue in the future, but as I always say in business, if there are no problems, then there are no opportunities... If it was all easy then we wouldn't be able to capitalize on the incredible gains coming in the near future. Think of it as getting your battle scars. You're earning your place in the new economy.

Will cryptos change from being "property" to being "money" by SEC definitions? I understand there is no tax on money and it will make purchasing with cryptos easier at the grocery store.
