Patreon Billing Update (Important) (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks,
So Patreon has just introduced a new way of billing you all, and I'm trying to figure out which would be better before I switch over.
The way that it currently works is that you get billed on the first of the month every month, regardless of when you sign up.
The benefit of this is that you gain access to the whole month, and won't miss any content.
The drawback is that if you joined at the end of the month, you'll get billed again a few days later, so you essentially might pay twice in a short time if you just signed up.
The new way they'd like to switch over to is the way it used to be.
You'd be billed on the day of the month you signed up. (Ex. if you signed up on the 15th of September, you'd be billed every month on the 15th)
The benefit of this is it gives you all a bit more control over when you pay, and also avoids the issue of double-charging.
The drawback is if you cancel before your next billing cycle, you could potentially be locked out of the full month's content.
(I.e. if your billing cycle renews on the 15th, and you cancel, any content that comes out on the 16th forward will be unavailable to you)
So instead of just making an executive decision, I figured I'd leave it up to you guys to help me out!
There really isn't a bad option here, both versions will have their benefits and drawbacks, I just wanted to give you guys some sway here, since it's you who will feel the effects.
You can even pick both if you don't care!
I just want to see where everyone's thoughts are.
Thanks!
