Tony A. Aragon

As a huge wrestling fan, the only reason I watched Princess Bride was because of Andre. Now its one of my favorite movies.

Great reaction, Cristy! I've been looking forward to your reaction on this movie ever since you said it was on your short list. You can see why it's a favorite for so many people. I've actually seen it so many times that I didn't need a copy to watch along with you. I could see and hear the whole movie in my head while you were watching it. You actually showed great restraint at the jump scare that happens at 00:26:05. Just a small gasp and "That totally startled me." Other reactors at that point have screamed or jumped out of their chair, lol. Something you may not know is that the movie is based on a novel by William Goldman. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie, so it was very much in line with the book, but there's a lot of stuff that had to be left out for time constraints. For instance, in the movie when Inigo and Fezzik find the entrance to the Pit of Despair, it just cuts to them standing over Westley's body. But in the book, there's a whole chapter about all the obstacles they have to get through before they reach Westley. Basically, there's a lot of cool and funny things and dialogue in the original book, so if you're a reader, I recommend getting a copy. 🙂 Finally, one quick tidbit that may interest you is how William Goldman came up with the initial idea and title. He has two daughters, and one night when he was putting them to bed, he asked them what they would like to hear a bedtime story about. One of the girls yelled, "princesses!" while the other exclaimed, "brides!" And so he decided to combine them.
