Wade Wallenstein

This was such a great episode! Season 1 is an adaptation of the what is now called "The Last of Us Part One" so I knew the storyline. Best part of this one was the Museum. The type of Infected they encountered is called a "Clicker" and the reason they are so hard to kill is due to the formation of fungal plates on their heads. They keep the host alive and offer protection to the brain. In fact, a direct shot to the head with a powerful weapon such as a revolver will only break off a chunk of the fungus, leaving the clicker's brain unharmed. They use echolocation so in game you have to sneak around. They wanted the clickers to resemble the in-game design through prosthetics since visual effects would have lessened their impact. Prosthetics were used and they were continually referring to the original concept art from the game. Tess dying here is the same spot she does in the game. The infected man's kiss-like attack with tendrils shows a departure from the game, where spores in enclosed spaces are an alternate method of infection alongside bites (characters sometimes use gas masks because of this). They researched other ways to demonstrate infection as spores in a real-life set world would seem to be everywhere as dust in the air.
