Through middle school, high school and even university, he avoided people and focused on his academics. It's only once he graduated and started his master's degree in river biology, aged only 21, that he decided to try and meet people. By then, he was expected to help his faculty by teaching classes. Suffice it to say a couple students dropped out because of his poor teaching skills...

He's gotten much better since, but he's still a little shy around people. He's made good friends with some of the students he worked hard to help graduate, and they've returned the favour by taking him to pubs, clubs, festivities... He was apprehensive at first, but he's more and more willing to come out of his shell and embrace the present moment. Mind you, his friends are biology students, so they have a little hippie side to them! They dragged him to rallies, parades, protests, nude walks... I'll let him share the spicy details~
