"Banjoooo~ Can you turn around for a minute?"
"Hmm? What is it?"
"Pillow!"
"Ah, hey...! Ahuhuh~"

Now that he's done with school and he moved out of his parents' home, he works as a carpenter. He rents a small apartment is a slightly less remote area (a "big city", according to his family... It isn't all that big!).

He and Kazooie tried to live as roommates for a while, but they didn't hit it off. They're best friends, and they know each other's deepest secrets... but they hardly had a love chemistry going. Banjo's looking for a mellow life partner, whereas Kazooie's looking for a daredevil like her, whom she can go on wild rides with.

Although they were both very close friends as they grew up, being neighbours and all, once they became free to move around and meet new people... they simply gravitated toward people with an attitude more like theirs. They lost touch a bit. Possibly more than just a bit, even... Just don't mention it to Banjo - he's a bit sensitive about the whole situation.

I always thought of Banjo as a working class guy but someone with bigger dreams. I go back and forth between a musician (given he plays an instrument) or engineer (Nuts & Bolts).

To me, Banjo's a simple guy with simple ambitions. If his dream is to have a little house for himself, his first move would be to get some wood to build it. Buying a house, having a mortgage... all of it seems so complicated! He learned how to play the banjo and he's surprisingly good at it. But, it's not like professional banjo players get lots of gigs. Plus, it requires a sort of tolerance to discomfort that Banjo's just not willing to cope with. He still loves playing it when he's with friends or family, though!

"Ok, now just sorta swing your hips back and forth a bit, no particular reason~" There's always close friends who just don't make good roommates, and sometimes even visa versa surprisingly. The biggest trick is to know when something isn't working and be able to talk about it and move on without losing something in your relationship. Sadly that last part can be pretty hard to do sometimes...

For sure... They're still good friends, love to hang out together, but they've grown a bit distant, what with living physically apart from each other, having different jobs rather than being in school together... Someday Kazooie will have an avian partner and probably kids. According to Banjo, they'll still be good friends, but... they won't be a fearless duo anymore. People change.
