Loved the Stark and Fern development. It's a slow burner for sure, but it's happening ever-so-slightly.

Also loved the Stark backstory, despite his family being trash his brother cared for him more than anyone. Not because of strength, but because they were family.

I think something that is worth mentioning that you don't seem to have picked up on; The way Stark was suggesting to carry Frieren would be a Princess or Bridal carry, commonly associated with romance in anime I'd say. Fern would've been fine with it if he were to carry Frieren on his back but refuses to let him do it the way he's suggesting, and you can see a pretty clear pout on her face both times he proposes it, to me suggesting a slight hint of jealousy. I don't know if I've got too much romance on the brain, but that seemed to me to be the obvious interpretation of that scene

Also another small little thing: There isn't really a contradiction in Frieren's story of the fake sword and Stark's story of Himmel pulling the real sword. He got the fake sword when he was little, was carrying it at the beginning of the journey, and at some point failed to pull the real one. He could've just as well pulled it there and continued with the real one and since the flashback is clearly set at the very beginning of their journey, that wouldn't be contradictory to Stark's assumption

I had kind of thought of that after the fact but I couldn't tell if she was being protective of Freiren or jealous of the way Stark was going to carry her.
