Great conclusion to this season of MT! Super excited with the S3 announcement! Thank you for including the spoiler free discussion of the LN to anime comparison. This was very interesting and added a lot of context. Also great reaction overall, was a very good season of MT but yeah I still like S1 the most at this point.

I think the best explanation for sylphie's decision might have been hinted at with norn here. She says she knows the frustration of not being able to help when he goes out, and maybe she wanted him to have support when he had to be away. This also ironically makes it less likely for him to cheat, since he has an adventure wife. I'm sure Sylphie would rather have him with a woman she knows than being tempted by random women. This also explains a certain... Future family decision lol. Also I think the decision last episode to make Roxy initiate more obviously was a pragmatic good decision. Rudy already gets a ton of hate, if we can't adapt all his thoughts to increase sympathy for him then at least make the act look more sympathetic to him. But the problem here is lack of time. He needed a whole episode of being stuck in his head like the end of s1 episode, with Roxy freeing him. But somewhere along the way, time was budgeted wrong.

that's fair, I can understand the changes IF and ONLY IF they allocated time to give context, because all that episode does is make Roxy out to be this horrible person assaulting Rudy when he's mentally down, it makes her look like she's some sex hungry degenerate only using Rudy for her own desires. That's my biggest problem, is how the changed content demonizes Roxy, I can totally understand changing it for the purpose of making Rudy look better as in the anime you get a absolutely miniscule amount of his inner dialogue, so it's much harder to feel for him. And you're correct, he very much does already get a lot of hate. Like I said, I could've accepted these changes and been fine with it, IF THERE was context and a ton of time allocated to show what led up to those events happening. Also yeah as far as Sylphie's reasoning I know as a fact there was more than what I had brought up initially I just couldn't think of it off the top of my head. I remember hearing so many different takes on why she let Roxy in when I first read about it lol that they're kind of all jumbled around. But yours definitely makes a lot of sense EDIT: they also cut out an amazing heart to heart conversation with Roxy and Rudy about his past and what he should do going forward that really helps boost their relationship points lol. That and even the journey back had a ton cut out of it that would've helped people digest this situation so much better. Truly I believe that if one more episode had been given, there would be no problems what so ever, some people would still disagree of course its Mushoku Tensei when have people NOT disagreed with some of the things going on. But there definitely wouldn't have been this much controversy about the episode. to me at least I fully stand by my words that the LN does an amazing job that even if you don't like the situation, you can come to accept it, because of how well the writing and Rudy's inner monologues, the dialogue all of the above is done. But the anime spastically rushing through all of it and making changes without adding context really messed things up for some people
