From everything I've heard this is just the "prolouge" of Solo Leveling. If season 2 continues this train from episodes 11-12 I'm seriously gonna love it.

The one thing they did, and I posted a Chibi Reviews video concerning this, is that they added a lot of anime only scenes here in this season to set up story points that will be happening later, as well as introduce and have more characterization for important characters that don't really show up till later in the Manwha. For instance, the stuff about Jeju Island is done completely different in the Manwha with the flying ant. I feel it's much better done with the way they did having members of the Hunter Guild do a Recon Mission and discovering the Ant. The stuff with the S-Rank Brother is also done differently. All the slow moments were done for a reason to actually improve the story telling moving forward.
