Clothes Concepts- Chapter 4 (Patreon)

Doing these always reminds me of doll dressup games :P

You can see I've gone pretty fancy with Julien's clothes here, for a particular event that I'm sure you can all guess ;). The others are quite simple, I'm trying to tone down the details since it makes them easier to read! Recently I've been trying to use a more limited pallette- using overlaps like Julien's jeans being the same colour as something else in the background etc. Here I'm overlapping more with the costume colours so there's less chance of them clashing with the backgrounds when I get to them! The less colours I use the more harmonious the page seems to feel, so I'm pushing that a little.

I so often struggle to get the characters and the background coherent- and I have to design one or the other first, so I found a photo with similar colours to what I want the background to have, and applied an overlay to make the clothes fit in! I'm absolutely sure I'll run into more roadblocks (like how to make Roman's skin stand out on dark blue...) but it's more than I've had in the past, so hopefully it makes it a little easier! 

Also! I'm sure a lot of you haven't met Alma!
Their role in the story is [redacted]- and they like horror movies with bad special effects, making terrible nicknames, ugly jumpers and cats!

 I also don't know if I've gone into this stuff before- Alma is Filipino, their family moved to the UK when they were a kid. The rest of the cast were born in the UK- Roman is Jamaican, Julien is half Italian, and Sylvia is half Bengali.
