The final entry in what I'm retroactively dubbing "Imaginary Train Week."

I felt like I had to draw one of these freaks, even though they don't speak. They look so strange and un-Simpsonsy, their design was what reminded me most of UPA cartoons.

The huge nose, the eyes above their head, they break a bunch of Simpsons character design rules that, admittedly, may not have been cemented yet. The animators using a fantasy sequence to cut loose a little is great, and I wish there were more opportunities for this throughout.

There are a few variations of this design in the scene (different hairstyles, genders, that type of thing), but as seen in the above screengrab, this is the most common one.

Next week: a character from reality! Or, rather, the Simpsons' reality. You know what I mean.
