I actually missed on my first watch that this guy's name is "Moldy". Adjust your spreadsheets accordingly.

Another reason that the Happy Little Elves fell by the wayside is that they are presented largely as a Lisa interest, and as the show ages, Lisa becomes less interested in child-like things, which is a shame. It's hard to imagine Lisa the eco-warrior or Lisa the intellectual being interested in a baby cartoon.

The loss of Lisa's childish innocence became necessary as the show tackled more complicated issues, but I still like when she gets to be a kid.

The Happy Little Elves continue on to occasionally be a Maggie thing, but Maggie is so seldom used in a significant role that the Elves cannot clutch onto lasing legacy there.

Could the Happy Little Elves have any impact in the modern era? I think they'd have to be reimagined as some Cartoon Network style reboot as a commentary on modern cartoons. In fact, that's a good idea. No-one steal that, I might draw that.

I love you Moldy

David Cooper

He’s arguably the best character.
