Here's a picture featuring Hanataro Yamada from Bleach. The idea was suggested by JDoe.

"I was thinking perhaps Hanatarō Yamada from Bleach? Gets a nice size/muscle gain from the attack absorbed into his Zanpakuto, rather than unleashing it back as an attack? Hope it's not too simple; I can add more detail if needed. :)"

So here's him facing some Hollows, both him and the Hollows all confused at how his Zanpakuto is working differently all of a sudden! His clothes ripping into shreds with the growing bulk that was expanding underneath.
