Hey this is a really interesting reading of the poem & love the illustrations. I appreciate you doing a vid like this & I like how you took it to ars poetica! I stan Elizabeth Bishop. I'm a poet & I sometimes teach adult courses, and I think this vid would be a great resource to students to model reading & analysis! Thank you so much :-)

Great to see you return to some literary analysis! Super strong video and I'm convinced by your interpretation. I especially like how you define art as "intentional" and then go back on that definition through your analysis of the poem. I found that to be a very smart analysis. Honestly, you could submit an essay like this to an academic conference and it would be really successful.

I love this. <3

I enjoyed this! Really smart analysis. I’ve known this poem for years but I’d never considered she was talking about losing the poem itself.

Neat! To me it was about mortality. The author has come to terms with their life as a process of losing things faster and faster. However, when contemplating losing their beloved their detached attitude is perturbed.

These are my favorite videos of yours - well-thought-out interpretations of something I'd never heard of, or if I'd heard of it, nothing I'd ever given much thought to. Really, really well done.

Tao Te Ching 48: Those who seek learning gain every day. Those who seek the Way lose every day. They lose and they lose until they find nothing to do. Nothing to do means nothing not done.

Consider reading the Queer Art of Failure by Jack Halbertstam!
