Greetings Adventurers,

We move away from the depths and venture out into the forests of Bharzul for our next creature. We're really excited for this one as we think it's just too dang cute. I've been wanting to do a more cutesy critter for a bit and when I stumbled across a picture of a Jerboa, I knew we could make something work.

As with all of these One More Thing releases, it's exclusive to patrons. If you're not a patron and want this release, please consider supporting us here. For patrons, you'll have to grab the files from your master post (linked below) to see the stats. We hope you enjoy it.

Design notes from Matthew:
Yes it all started with me looking a cute animals as many things do. I'm a lover of adorable animal channels on Youtube, so when fernando mentioned the idea of doing a more friendly creature for this month instead of something you're meant to fight, I knew I had to delve into the world of adorable animals to figure out if we could find some inspiration there. Coming across the jerboa was a stroke of luck as I think they are just adorable.

With their long tail and springy legs, it just screamed martial artist to me. I thought we could definitely tie that in with a monastic background and create a communal society around them. One of the more interesting bits though was coming up with their tenets. I think any good monastic tradition has strong tenets that guide those who follow it. I used those tenets to then build out their society, using them to inform each part as it were.

The actual creature design was rather straightforward on this, though I did get a little spicy giving them flurry on Pathfinder and the tail whip on 5E. I think those abilities go a long way in making the creatures feel unique and separate from a lot of the more straight up martial creatures out there.

This one was really striking for us (no I didn't even intend to make that pun) in a way I don't think we expected. It's one of my favorite art pieces that Fernando has created and I kind of want to explore these dudes more.

I would love Springfoot as playable ancestry, it would fit perfectly in the upcoming campaign.
