Greetings adventurers!

We were out on the lagoon having a comfortable fishing session that was mostly focused on downing the mead we had brought with us. I hope you can understand that the true joy of fishing is in the company and the beverages you bring. Anyways, I felt an unfortunate tug on my line and that meant I had to actually do something. Reluctantly reeling in the catch I noticed it didn’t struggle much until finally I pulled out this very waterlogged tome…

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
I think that there’s a lot of room to explore items that don’t grant combat power. Certainly combat power is exciting to get, but there’s so much that can be designed when you aren’t thinking about the direct benefits to causing harm. For me, these are some of my favorite items to develop as they let me open my mind up to other ways that magic can interact with the fantastical worlds we inhabit.
I had the idea initially for this to be a spell tome of water themed spells and perhaps give it some additional water themed elements, but halfway through development I realized that it would probably be much more interesting if I just let this item be what I wanted it to be in my head. A definitive resource for all things aquatic that lets you look up what you might need at a moment’s notice. I know that this wouldn’t be relevant for all campaigns, but for heavily aquatic themed ones, I would be so excited to get a hold of something like this.
The communication aspect was a bit more complex to develop. I didn’t want it to take the place of Speak With Animals in 5E or PF2E. I opted instead to focus more on making something that was designed to fit the theme rather than just taking on a spell that sort of gets the job done. This feels more limited in some ways but powerful in others. The balance see-saw is something you should look for when designing your own items.

We’ll definitely have more combat themed items coming in the future, but it was nice to take a little break from that with this item. It lets me explore a few other options. Next week though, we have an exciting collaboration coming with a good friend and cartographer pal. Look forward to it. It’s gonna be METAL.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
