The pits where fiendish devils and demons dwell are not always the tortuous places that one would expect. In fact, the Waltzling seems to singularly exist to prove that fiends can party as well. Flittering and flouting their dextrous demeanor and fluttering round the world, they expose themselves to danger freely as you never know when they might explode. It’s a wonder that more keep coming, but know that if you see one, you’re in trouble too. It seems that some being has saw potential in the Waltzlings, at least when it comes to explosions.

Design notes from Matthew:

Well, I’d be a liar if I said this wasn’t directly influenced by the release of a certain ARPG recently. I’ve been playing a lot of it, Fernando is playing a lot of it. We’re kind of consumed by it in some ways. We wanted to celebrate the release, by putting out something themed around the kind of environment that you would find in the game, but we also knew that we wanted to put our own spin on it as we always do.

We love giving personality to our items and that’s where we knew that we could use some extra content for this one. We reached out to our good friend Fluffy at the Fluffy Folio and were delighted when they said yes to working with us again. We have a history of working with Fluffy from the Staff of the Reefswarm and the Checkers’ Pocket Striker and all I can say is that we hope to do so more in the future. They’re lovely and helped us find just the right niche for this fiendish device.

We knew Fluffy would be handling the creature, so we set about making an “interesting” delivery method for it. The benefits of making it a winged grenade allowed for it to be directed rather than thrown and also lets us ignore some problems with cover while also giving it a unique and fiendish look. We love the idea of persistent damage so the sticky, burning damage that comes from this seemed like a perfect opportunity to implement it. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

We’re always so pleased when we can work with other creators to bring you something interesting and offer a bit more than we usually do. Fluffy is one of our favorites to work with and I can say I hope this isn’t our last time!
