Greetings adventurers!

We had journeyed far through flowing hills dotted with vineyards and small terracotta roofed houses before we arrived in the city. Our first stop was a local watering hole where we found an older gentleman who shared stories with us about his days in the arena in his youth. He had long since given that up and now lived in the lap of luxury. Something he attributed to the horn he kept close by at all times. He told us that his days were growing short as his body grew older and wished for us to pass on the thing that had brought him so much success to someone worthy.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
A fairly simple idea from the start, I wanted a horn that one could blow in order to rally their allies and turn the tides of a fight. That was the base concept and it was a pretty simple build out of the mechanics from there.
The first thing I wrote was the rallying ability. I knew I didn’t just want to give free healing, but I also wanted this to scale with time. A great way to accomplish that is hit die! They scale with the player and also offer a cost. You’re basically borrowing health now for what you could regenerate later.
The rest of this one was pretty straightforward after I saw the illustration that Fernando put together for it. The opulence present in this piece was stunning when he showed me the illustration and I knew I needed to convey that mechanically as well. I took some inspiration from the noble background for that and it just fit in so well.
Illustration notes from Fernando:
We’ve been wanting to do a proper horn ever since someone mentioned that there aren’t enough horn items in D&D; we already made the Raincaller Staff which at its core has a horn and it’s an integral part of the mechanics.  Technically that’s a staff though, so we still had in the back of our minds the want to do a proper horn item.
Matthew had a pretty good idea from the jump on what this item should look like so it was easy to come up with a few similar concepts and go with the one he liked the most.  I really enjoyed illustrating this item, it’s a colorful, happy item, and I love making those!

Writing items that allow for scalability has been something that I’ve tasked myself with recently. I want things that can grow with characters and be a part of them throughout their story. Finding those scaling mechanics can be difficult, but I find that part of the challenge to be particularly enjoyable. I think it’s just a more fun way to make items worthwhile long term.

Love the narrative potential of this. I can immediately imagine the last standing party member scrambling to the horn to save their friends.
