The art of decay is something to celebrate and revel in. The breaking down of what once was into something new to nurture something else. There’s no greater measure of the cyclical nature of all things than decay. These hooked claws laid deep away in a temple, so the one that brought them to us says. Covered in rust, this place was a monument to the corrosion of all things. To the right wielder, decay can be deadly.

I love the idea of a monk wielding something that can break down even the highest of ACs. That was really all I wanted to do with this was give monks an interesting way to break down what you would expect would oppose them. After all you can’t normally punch through armor right? Well now with these, you’re instead breaking that down over time and I find that awesome.

The iterations on this were a little weird. Monks can hit a lot and some of them have ridiculous amounts of Ki to play around with. I’m not always a fan of putting too many limits on item, but noting this one as “once per round” was absolutely necessary. They was no way around this or you’d get monks shredding every AC in a single round.

This might be a bit of a niche item considering it’s really only going to be strong against enemies that wear actual armor. This would fit in perfectly for a more humanoid focused campaign.

This item is the realization of a trope that I’ve always wanted to see, that of a monk breaking down even a heavily armored foe. I’m happy we were able to bring it to light and make something that feels powerful, yet reasonable at the same time.
