Hello everyone!

Our next backlog release is a fan favorite. It's our very own Billy the Club. Don't you dare call him a mace to his face, because he is definitely a club. Billy saw a lot of love on his release and we hope him being released in his new formats will make some folks happy!

A look back from Matthew:
Billy was our stab at taking something basic, but giving it enough character to make it feel energetic, fun, and desirable to engage with. We really didn't want to give the item anything crazy, but rather just make it about the flavor of the piece itself and I think we succeeded.
I can't remember where the initial idea of him being a mace came from, but it fit for the kind of character that we wanted him to be. There's just something humorous to me about a mimic that really doesn't understand why people keep calling him something he isn't.
The actual abilities on Billy were pretty straightforward in that we gave him a bit of mimic properties with the acidic damage. The grapple was a bit of a late addition so that he could have some more interesting use in combat, but really it was just about the story of this weird little "club" mimic.

We're so excited to continue working through our backlog of items. There's so many good trips down memory lane to come and I really want to share all of those with you. I often remember a lot more about the item when I get to write these posts so it's amazing to me to revisit them.

You can find complete downloads below with all of the formats that we normally only offer for our patrons. These backlog items will be publicly available for you to get a sense of what kind of quality you can expect from our releases.

If you would like to gain access to these robust formats for every new magic item we release, including early access to them, consider becoming a patron.
