Greetings adventurers!

It’s time for our next release and we’re so happy to get it into your hands. These days have quickly become some of my favorites as putting these items out to you all is quite a rewarding little thing for me. Hopefully you find this holster enjoyable. A lot of work went into making each part feel unique!

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
I love consumable items so much in D&D, but I am constantly running into the problem where a consumable isn’t renewable. This leads to an issue where some players have a tendency to hoard items until they “really need them”. This often means they never bother to use them as they forget about it or the situation isn’t dire enough to justify it.
I had the thought of a refillable potion satchel kicking around for awhile, but needed to find the right mechanic to balance it. The coin purse idea was the final point I needed to actually bring this over the finish line for mechanics.
Each of the potions needed a unique theme and purpose. I think we accomplished that quite well by providing benefits both inside and out of combat. One of my biggest challenges was just pricing the potions themselves so that they felt attainable, but not easily replenished.
I use a house rule that quaffing potions is a bonus action at my tables. This item seemed like a perfect time to codify that a bit more. A full action always felt a little too punitive for my flavor and further encouraged consumable hoarding. I’m happy with where this ended up. We get a usable set of consumables while also providing a better player experience with renewable resources that can be shared with the party.
Illustration notes from Fernando:
As with other items we’ve done that have been inspired but other properties part of the challenge here was to design the look so it paid homage to the inspiration without flat out copying it.
The other challenge with this item was making a potion satchel that didn’t come off generic and had some uniqueness to it.  That’s where the kidney shape comes in, the idea being that this satchel can be strapped to the character’s leg and wraps around it.  I also wanted the potion holders to be straps rather than pouches in order to show the different potion colors since it adds more variety to the illustration than just having different shades of brown.
I made each potion vial a different shape, as well as the cap for them because I figured in the heat of battle it’s useful to reach down without looking and easily know which potion you’re grabbing without having to look at the color or the label.
All in all this one took a while to make, it looks deceptively simple but there’s a lot of detail and each potion felt like a separate image within the image.

This Patreon journey has been so amazing these first couple of weeks. It’s grown far faster than we could have imagined. We posted a new goal this week as well. Once we get to $500 / month we’ll begin creating a piece of Patreon exclusive third party content every month. It may be a monster, an encounter, an item, an NPC, a tavern, or any number of fun things. It will be available to every tier when we pass that milestone as a special thanks to all of our supporters.

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

Rewards for Patrons!

Kraken's Kohorts ($3 tier)

Kraken's Kompanions ($6 tier)

Kraken's Kollaborators ($10 Tier)

Drink up and be merry!
