Converting Genesis 8 Shapes for use with Genesis 9 (Patreon)

Hello Supporters!
As promised yesterday, here's a video I've made this morning that'll show you how to convert your "legacy" characters and import them onto the new Genesis 9 figure. This works by turning G9 into a fit suit that the old character will wear, thereby distorting the G9 geometry so we can import it back as a morph.
This is not a perfect process and can lead to unwanted results especially in the eye areas, but it's free and relatively painless to do inside Daz Studio. You won't need any additional tools - and most importantly it won't cost you anything for a change 😁
Chris showed how to use this method yesterday, and since I'm an Editor on his channel, I've turned that segment into a clip so we all remember how this process works. Thanks for sharing, Chris!
Note that the principle can be used to get newer characters onto older shapes too: if you fancy using someone like Victoria 9 on a Genesis 8 figure, that's perfectly doable too.
I currently don't know how to up-convert materials to the new figure, but Chris is poking into some deep and dark corners of Blender this second to see if it might be possible without too many issues. I'll let you know in due course if it can be done and how. We'll likely see character converter products at some point that'll let us do the whole process in one click, just know that if you get your hands dirty, you can do it yourself.
Some other quick news: I've managed to write a quick article about restoring the Colour Picker in Photoshop in the latest version. Mine had changed for the worst, but I found a solution and shared it. Read all about it here.
Also, I've started scheduling some of our stream clips on the Daz Channel. Since it's Halloween, Ray has chopped up the Spooky Hollow stream from last year, in which I've shown a great many workflow tricks for scene building. This week it's about building a little dForce ghost, next week I'll start dressing the Hero Character.
Enjoy, and see you next time 👋
