Greetings, folks! Today I have an early access treat for you: I've  just discovered an alternate way to bring Mixamo animations into Daz  Studio and use them with the Genesis 8 and 8.1 figures. 😃

This  workflow involves the Genesis 2 figures, as they're the last generation  that's accepted for upload in Mixamo. The trick is to tweak the default  G2 T-Pose and turn it as closely as possible into the A-Pose of the G8  figure, bake all joint rotations, then upload it to Mixamo.

Next  we'll download an animation, save it as a pose file and apply it to the  G8 figure. This will produce issues with arm and finger rotations, but  it's something that can be fixed with a script by the 3dstrobist on DeviantArt.  His article isn't easy to understand, so I'm hoping this video helps  clarify what he means. I'm in the process of writing my own article and  include two A-Pose files for Genesis 2. It's not quite ready yet, but  enjoy this video in the meantime.

I may use this workflow on the  public Daz Live Stream next Saturday, let's see if we can string  multiple animations together and build something longer. Many thanks to  Travis from Daz for bringing this article to my attention 😉

Enjoy!!

Update: I've added the Genesis 2 poses to get you started easier. I'll add the exact values in my article. Apply to the G2 figure, bake joint rotations and upload to Mixamo.

Hi Jay… do you suggest to save the pose preset before or after locking the joint rotation?

Jay Versluis

I’d save both, just to be on the safe side 🤩 Strictly speaking you need it with the baked rotations, and only as a figure to import into Mixamo.
