Here's an early access treat for an Artstation post - is that a thing? It is now!

This is a promo I've made for a live stream this Saturday at 4pm EST, in which I'll play more with that Russian 3D Scanner software. I'll demonstrate how to use a 3D head scan and bolt it onto the Genesis figure. There's so much R3DS Wrap can do! The stream is for Daz+ subscribers, you'll receive an email with a link from Daz sometime tomorrow if you're "in the club".

I had this idea of the "office hero" and to juxtapose the clean office outfit with some dirty pirate ropes that lets her pull the strings of an important project. The expression was made with Face Controls, the office outfit is by IH Kang, and Manami Hair by kobamax.

The first shot leaves enough room for logos and text, while the wider ones are made for the video thumbnail. I couldn't decide between the red and purple versions, and even made a third orange/yellow version that didn't work. It's interesting to see how the same background image turns out so different in either colour. The red version won in the end.

The hair needed three round-trips into ZBrush, and although there were enough morph dials, it is often quicker to adjust what needs to be done manually. I'm getting better and doing these adjustments all the time!

It's really fun putting something like this together, and it's also a little frightening just how many apps you have to use to make it happen, not to mention the amount of patience and knowledge you have to bring o the journey. I do like spending more time that is strictly necessary on details and enjoy the process, and I try to challenge myself a little and take the opportunity to learn a new trick while I'm at it.

I have another portrait render for you tomorrow, and a little animation I've made in Unreal Engine - stay tuned for that!

Great minds think alike. My next video is going to be about how to do the same thing, but with a Reallusion character. That guy I posted on your Discord server was the Alex head model from R3DS put onto a Reallusion character.

No way - how cool is that! I love it when that happens - let's compare notes 😃 The next thing on my list I'd like to look at is how to transfer textures from a flat image, or a pre-made head texture to a 3D object. I've seen a video that had the flat image on a subdivided plane, then wrap that around the head. Sadly I couldn't make it work, but I feel like there's huge potential for projecting hi-res textures this way.
